An Evening At KMS California Training Academy
A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to be invited to a Birchbox bloggers event with KMS California, at their amazing training academy.
I arrived after work, drank lots of champagne and chatted to other bloggers which was lovely. We then had a talk from one of the stylist trainers from the academy. She spoke about their inspiration for their salon products and took us through how they were developed, where they had taken ideas from and current trends. Each section was based on a particular hair look: sleek and straight, full of volume or waves, each of which has a range of hair products to help you prep the hair and style it perfectly. We were then taken into the salon and asked to choose which look we wanted to go for – I went for waves/curls and LOVED the results:
We were then each given a gift set that correlated to the look we’d gone for. These are great gift ideas as they give you everything that you need to achieve the hair style you have in mind. Mine had Free Shape Shampoo (which is designed to help with manageability and pliability), the Free Shape conditioner which also prepares the hair for hair styling, and the Free Shape 2-in-1 Styling + Finishing spray which is for dry shaping and hold. My stylist used the latter on me in the salon and I loved it, so I’m pleased I got one to take home. I also got some Curl Bendys which I’ve never used before so any tips or how-to instructions, please let me know!
Once we had all been primped and preened, we jumped in taxis with the ladies from Birchbox and went to Blanchette. We had a private dining room (the Jungle Room – so pretty!).
Each of our places were marked with a personalised Birchbox – so thoughtful and sweet! One of the girls’ mums had knitted them herself!
The rest of the evening was lost to far too many delicious cocktails, amazing food and talking about beauty (you can’t really expect beauty bloggers to sit in a room together and NOT talk beauty!) It was such a fun evening, lovely to meet the ladies from Birchbox and really great to get to know some other bloggers a bit better. I was feeling a bit worse for wear at work the next day though!
