Sephora Mini Order

I work with some lovely people and one of those lovely people went on holiday to New York and very kindly offered to pick me up some treats from Sephora while she was there. *insert preaching hands emoji*

I spent a long time on the website trying to whittle down my wishlist. Fran is one of the best people but even she might have drawn the line at a 30 item shopping list!

The item that I knew I wanted was one that I hadn’t been allowed in my online Sephora order due to perfumes being banned from airmail orders. Booooooo! I have wanted to try the Elizabeth and James Nirvana perfumes for ages as I’ve seen so many people raving about them on blogs. I’m not usually one for celebrity perfumes but I thought I’d give this a go. One of the things that the US branches of Sephora do very well is minis. I’m not sure why this hasn’t caught on in the European stores as it would be so popular. The US stores have whole sections devoted to teeny tiny bottles of skincare, make up, toiletries and (most excitingly) perfumes. This means I could get a roll-on mini set of the perfumes to try for a fraction of the price!

These perfumes are incredible. I am awful at describing scents, so I’ll use the description from the website! Nirvana White is a “Delicate peony, muguet, and musk wrap an alluring sophistication around a soft blend”, while Nirvana Black (my favourite) is “Sensual violet, sandalwood, and vanilla strike the perfect balance of masculine and feminine.” This set was $20 which I think is a bargain, considering the full size bottles are $75 each! I now know that I’d definitely buy the full size in Nirvana Black but would probably leave the White version, so the minis concept definitely works!

It’s becoming a Sephora tradition that I have one disappointing product in every order and sadly The Bite Beauty Cashmere Lip Cream was this order’s let down. I’d heard fantastic things about Bite Beauty and you all know how I feel about matte lip products. This liquid lipstick comes in a cylindrical tube with a doe-foot applicator, all pretty standard. But when I first applied this I actually ‘ooh’ed! It is so incredibly pigmented, I have never experienced anything like it before. It looks almost like paint powder… but liquid… which makes NO SENSE I know. Unfortunately this product is not matte: it isn’t super glossy but it never dries down to a matte finish which is so irritating. Also as it’s so pigmented, when it transfers onto everything (which it does), it’s really noticeable.

On a more positive note, the colour ‘Sancerre’ is absolutely stunning. The perfect blend of raspberry and fuchsia. I’m going to try wearing this blotted down and see if that helps with the matte finish as I don’t want it to be unloved in my huge pile of lip products.

Have you tried Bite Beauty Cashmere Lip Cream? Do you have any tips on how to get a better finish? Are there any other Bite Beauty products I should try?
