A plateful of Hotel Chocolate treats… who could resist?
Make Easter extra special with Hotel Chocolat
When I was younger I used to count down the days to Easter Sunday. We only were given sweets and chocolates in small amounts as a treat during the rest of the year, so Easter was very exciting for me and my sisters!
Now I still love chocolate but my tastes have changed. I’d rather have a small amount of something special than a huge bucket full of generic chocolate. I’m also trying to cut out dairy, wheat and gluten as those who follow my instagram and twitter will know (my handle is TalontedLex for those who want to follow). Therefore I tend to use dark chocolate to satisfy all my cravings at the moment.
When Hotel Chocolat contacted me to ask if I’d like to taste test some of their chocolates I went through a range of emotions: pure joy…hunger…desire…then bereft weeping when I realised I wouldn’t be able to eat them due to the above mentioned intolerances. But I decided to take one for the team and do a crowd sourcing taste session for my lovely work colleagues instead.
As you can see above they were very popular!
The team tried out the Simple Milk Truffles, Dizzy Praline Selection and Billionaire’s Shortbread. The latter were the first to go, as soon as I’d put down my camera they had disappeared! They were definitely the favourites. The truffles were the second favourites, with a centre that melted in the mouth and contrasted to the harder chocolate shell. The Dizzy Praline chocolates divided opinion with some comparing the centres to a Turkish Delight type consistency and others thinking they were delicious.
Overall the Hotel Chocolat selection went down very well and I was extremely popular with my colleagues that day! I was sad to not taste any but noticed online that they are doing some allergen-free chocolates so I might try those and let you know what I think.
I also noticed some UNBELIEVABLE easter treats on the site. Their easter eggs, selection boxes and little chicks and bunnies are so cute! Look at the detailing on those eggs, the faceted one is almost too good to eat! I’d really recommend looking at the site if you want to get a loved one something a bit more special than a regular supermarket egg, they are like works of art! (Can you tell I’m trying to eat chocolate vicariously through other people?)
