This weekend the weather was absolutely glorious. It finally felt like it was the start of summer. And to honour that, I decided to do some fruity watermelon nail art. I hated this manicure until the moment I put top coat on and then I fell in love with it! (Does anyone else do this? All of my manicures are hideous until the very last second when they come together!)
I started off with a coat of Nails Inc ‘NailKale’ which is a strengthening base coat treatment – I won this in a nail art competition and I am pretty impressed with it so far. My nails needed some TLC and I wanted to try something other than OPI Nail Envy as my reliance on it is terrifying. I will keep you posted on how I get on with it.
I then did two coats of white polish – the best I’ve found is by Natural Collection. I used a teeny tiny paintbrush to paint half moons in a bright pink all over the nails. I chose OPI ‘Kiss Me On My Tulips’ (which I got in my Nail Box subscription). I then used the paintbrush to do the rind in a light green – I chose Barry M ‘Spring Green’ as it’s the brightest green that I own. I dotted black nail varnish on with a dotting tool to represent the pips. Then topped with Seche Vite and it’s all done!
This watermelon nail art is making me feel seriously summery, plus it feels good to be back to doing nail art after the dreaded nail break!
Do you have any requests for nail art or manicures that you’d like to see? Would some step by step pictures or videos be better? I want to start showing the stages of my manicures more often.
