RosaceaReview Burt’s Bees Sensitive Skin Range

RosaceaReview Burt's Bees Sensitive Skin Range

At the start of July I was sent the Burt’s Bees Sensitive Skin Range. I was pretty excited as I didn’t even know that Burt’s Bees did a range for atypical skin. Burt’s Bees have a great ethos: a history of natural, ethical and high quality products. According to the website, the sensitive skin range has Cotton Extract, which helps “skin replenish its outer layer, shielding it from potential irritants”.

Because of my rosacea, I’m very wary of new products. I always start them on a Friday evening so that I can hide in the house for 2 days if I have a flare up or a reaction. When applying a new product I’m like a coiled spring, waiting for the burning or stinging to start.

So I was very happy to find that this range was not only gentle but was also a pleasure to use.

First up is the Sensitive Facial Cleanser. This is a milk cleanser that contains Cotton Extract which, according to the website, “helps skin replenish its outer layer and minimise the effects of potential irritants.” It’s very runny so you have to be careful not to waste it, but it’s very soothing when applied. If my skin doesn’t like a cleanser it goes very tight and warm immediately after application, but this made my skin feel very soft and comfortable. It’s a big tube so it’s great value for money.

Next up is the Sensitive Night Cream. I really liked this: it feels thick, luxurious and as though it was truly treating my skin which is what I want from this kind of product. It sinks in very quickly (I hate it when products sit on your face for ages then make you stick to your pillow…yuck!) The cream does leave a slight residue on the face. It’s hard to explain: after application, when you move your face you can feel there’s something on your skin, kind of like when you’re wearing a face mask. But when you touch your face, you can’t feel anything. It’s very strange. After the first few nights, I didn’t even notice it any more to be honest!

The Sensitive Eye Cream is in a soft tube with a nib-like tip. The first time I used this the tip was a bit clogged, I was squeezing it ridiculously hard, thinking that the formula was too thick and then it suddenly fired off and went ALL OVER my bedroom. I’m not over exaggerating. It was comical. I wish I had a recording of it! Back to the product…! It’s very hydrating and soothing, I find it really calming if my eyes are puffy and sore on a morning.

Burt's Bees Sensitive Skin Eye Cream Review

The Sensitive Face-wipes are face wipes… I’m not a huge fan of any wipes as I think they’re a terrible way to cleanse your face. However, after my surgery these were a godsend. I wasn’t allowed to shower for a few days so these helped me to feel fresh and clean during recovery. I couldn’t really bend and getting out of bed was a struggle. So I did the unthinkable. I used them on my face. And my skin didn’t fall off! Obviously I didn’t carry on using them after I could make it for the sink, but it’s good to know that in pinch, I have some face wipes that are gentle, calming and don’t give me a flare up afterwards.

Out of this range, I think I would definitely recommend the cleanser and the night cream. If you have a dry but delicate eye area the eye cream is definitely great as well, although I’m looking for more of an anti-ageing quality from my eye creams so I’m still on the hunt. The face wipes are the best I’ve tried, just promise me you’ll only use them on your face in a real emergency, okay?

Thanks for this great review. It’s so hard to find products that are truly friendly to rosacea prone skin. I don’t mind the trial and error as much as the small fortune that I spend on products that I test out and then can’t use anymore. Reviews like this, from other rosacea suffers, are so helpful for choosing the things I will try and yours gave the perfect details about the experience. Thanks again and all the best of luck with your skin care! Stay beautiful!
