A few weeks ago I was very kindly invited to Vos Beauty Salon in Chelsea to try out some of their treatments. It’s on the King’s Road, right opposite The Bluebird restaurant so it’s in a great location. I love that part of London: it’s brilliant for wandering around, staring at houses and cars that you might buy if you win the lottery or marry a rich oligarch. Always a fun way to pass the time!
Vos Beauty Salon Chelsea Review
I arrived at 9am on the Saturday morning and was greeted by the super friendly staff. It’s a fairly small (but perfectly formed!) salon, on two floors. I was taken downstairs to one of the treatments rooms for my massage. The wonderful masseuse asked me some questions about allergies and where I wanted her to focus the massage and then left me to change. Obviously I had a nose around while I got undressed and was impressed to see all of the products used were Elemis.
The massage was fantastic, she really went to town on the knots in my shoulders and by the time she got to my legs and arms I was pretty much falling asleep! I was so relaxed and could’ve laid there for hours. The 50 minute massage is only £39 at the moment, which is incredible value for such a thorough and enjoyable massage.
Once I’d woken up a bit, I went upstairs to talk to the hair stylist about what I wanted from my hair cut. I was a bit bored of my mid-length hair and had decided to go for the above-shoulder chop I’d been pinning for WEEKS. My fringe was looking a bit shirehorse-y so I wanted that trimming as well, but apart from that nothing too drastic. There was a bit of a language barrier when I was trying to explain what I wanted, but the Pinterest board came in very handy (basically just me pointing at pictures of Alexa Chung and Taylor Swift!) I had my hair washed and rough dried and then was spun round so I could have a pedicure and manicure while my hair was being cut. I felt like a Victoria Secrets model – you know when you see photos from backstage with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley looking impossibly beautiful, surrounded by people pampering her? That. I chose a very light pink (essie ‘ballet slippers’, for those interested) for my pedicure which is unusual for me as I usually go for brights, but I loved it. And it’s still going strong a few weeks later – unheard of for me unless I have gels. For my fingernails I chose a grey polish – shock – (‘You Don’t Know Jacques’ by OPI) which was beautiful but bubbled slightly – although it’s probably fair to note that I’m ridiculously picky about my manicures as I can usually do better myself. This one was very neat and lasted fairly well but the bubbling was a bit disappointing. Express pedicures are currently £20 which is great seeing as I got a good 3 weeks out of mine!
The hair cut is wonderful – just what I wanted. A fairly blunt cut, with layers and a long fringe that doesn’t look too chunky. I am now a total bob convert! The styling wasn’t to my taste – the photos I found showed the kind of look I usually go for (messy waves and a lot of touchable texture) and I think that wasn’t truly understood by the stylist. There was a lot of mousse used so the hair was quite stiff and it was more curly than wavy. However, after I mentioned to the stylist that it wasn’t the look I’d usually have, he did his best to rectify it. You can see the wonderful cut here, I’m in love with it!
The salon itself was lovely – friendly, chatty staff and a really nice atmosphere. It was busy as well – great for people-watching the ladies of Chelsea!
