October 2015 Monthly Beauty and Lifestyle Favourites

November! Unbelievable! This month has been a very busy and stressful one with work, so my blogging has taken a bit of a back seat but you’ll be happy to hear that I’ve still been keeping track of my favourite beauty and lifestyle products this month.

October 2015 Monthly Beauty and Lifestyle Favourites

I’ve spoken before about the amazing Glo & Ray eyeliners HERE and HERE. Smooth to apply, highly pigmented, gorgeous colours and great prices. This purple, ‘Orchid’, has a subtle shimmer and has been a firm favourite this month – it makes my green-blue eyes stand out and doesn’t budge all day.

I treated myself to another Charlotte Tilbury lipstick this month. I had a few potential shades in mind but when I arrived in Selfridges, this one jumped out at me. It’s called ‘Bond Girl‘ and it’s a ‘chic natural berry’ – a classic browny-red shade that makes you look put-together but still subtle enough for every day wear if you’re not a bright lipstick girl. You can get it HERE.

I had never tried any No7 foundations but had heard some great things. I had a chat with the beauty assistant in Boots and she recommended the ‘Beautifully Matte‘ range as I’m quite oily and need high coverage because of my rosacea. She also matched my skin tone with the amazing Match Made Service – they use a nifty little machine to analyse your skin and find you the perfect foundation for you. I was a bit suspicious at first but this shade is an ideal match, plus the formula is fantastic: lightweight, high coverage and a very natural finish. You can buy it HERE.

It’s rare that I wear a nail varnish more than once a month, let alone 3 times in a month, but ‘with the band’ from essie is my current nail polish crush. You can read my full review of the whole Fall Collection HERE but the summary is that it’s a stunning red-brown shade that is perfect for autumn. Get it HERE.

How cute is this little highlighting pot from The Body Shop? I’ve not tried much of their make up, but this has really impressed me. The Honey Bronze Highlighting Dome is a solid formula that glides onto skin to give a beautiful golden glow. I apply it straight from the dome onto my cheekbones, nose and cupids bow and it also looks super pretty applied to collarbones and shoulders on nights out for a lovely glow. You can get it HERE.

Victor & Rolf ‘Flowerbomb’ is one of the most distinctive and evocative perfumes for me. It reminds me of my first dates with my husband so I was thrilled to pick up a rollerball from Sephora when we went to New York. Putting on this fragrance boosts my mood and makes me feel dressed up even when I’m just in jeans and a t shirt.

As always, I’ve included the books I’ve been reading this month. I actually finished 4 books this month, but I included the 3 that stood out the most for me. Firstly is ‘The Dinner’ by Herman Koch: a family drama with a lot of surprises. The storyline unfurls and shocks you as it goes, it was utterly impossible to predict what would happen next. I think I heard somewhere that it was being made into a film which would be wonderful. The second is ‘The Martian’ by Andy Weir – a book that has everyone talking as it’s currently doing ridiculously well at the box office. I wanted to read the book before seeing the film and ended up finishing it in 3 days as it’s so good. It’s funny, clever, chock full of suspense and I cannot wait to see the film! Lastly, a book I finished on Friday – ‘Only Ever Yours’ by Louise O’Neill. Yet another YA dystopian-future novel  (yes, I have an obsession!) that is part Handmaid’s Tale, part Mean Girls, and part Never Let Me Go. It was one of those books that had me gripped even though the characters are all extremely unlikeable!

What were your favourite beauty or lifestyle things this month? As always, I’d love your book recommendations – leave me a comment or come chat to me on Twitter: @TalontedLex.
