Prepare for some VERY exciting news: we are moving! Our current flat is lovely (but definitely has its faults!) and we absolutely adore the area, but we wanted to be somewhere more central and the new flat is flipping incredible. And we all know that as soon as you know you’re moving, you start planning what you’ll buy for the new place. So here’s my NotOnTheHighStreet wishlist…
If you haven’t used NOTHS before, it’s flipping great. They specialise in personalised gifts. For example, a few years ago I bought my dad the most amazing cufflinks where you choose the map locations. I chose York (where he was born) and Toulouse (where he lives now) and he looked very teary when he opened them…and coming from a very stoic Yorkshireman that’s really saying something! But they have anything and everything you could possibly need.
I have picked out the top 12 home items currently on my Notonthehighstreet wishlist. We have a lot of home stuff already and are going to go to IKEA (standard) for the bigger furniture bits but the below are the pretty and fun things I have my eye on. Leave me a comment below with your thoughts on my choices and also I’d love it if you gave me your recommendations for where you love to shop for home decor.
What can I say, I’m a blogger cliché! This set of copper cutlery is just gorgeous and something that feel would add a bit of glamour to meal times…even if you are just having cheese on toast!
I love abstract art and this combination of rose pink, gold and orange is so pretty and unique. This artist does similar pieces in loads of different colours but this one just called to me!
I have a huge obsession for mid-century modern styling and this mirror is the dream. A sunburst mirror has been on my wishlist for such a long time and this one is really reasonable and looks to be very well made.
I am a blanket fiend. We already have so many in our flat but I need more. I am always curled up on the sofa under a snuggly blanket so to have lots to choose from is a must for me. This woven throw would be perfect to cover a sofa or chair.
When you move into a rented flat, it’s a given that most things will be neutral colours to ensure that it looks put togther and appeals to as many people as possible. I like to keep the monochrome look but add a little bit of colour in a few chosen accessories. These neutral blankets look super soft but will also go with everything, now matter what room they end up in.
A furry throw for building a Netflix nest in winter. Need I say more?
We have a proper balcony in our new flat, which I am WAY too excited about (as in ‘have a whole secret Pinterest board dedicated to it’ levels of excitement). My husband really wants to grow some herbs and pretty plants out there so these hanging pots are perfect. I thought we could paint them pretty colours as they’re a bit bland…
I have my eye on two different sets of placements and just can’t decide which I prefer, so please let me know below. On the one hand we have these ridiculously cute dotty placemats…
…or we have the more grown up, but not quite as fun, bamboo placemats. Which do you prefer? Which would be easier to match with the rest of the dining set? Let me know in the comments!
I am the Grim Reaper when it comes to plants. I’ve tried and failed to keep them alive. I’ve given up and embraced fake flowers – which have come a long way since the weird shiny, obviously plastic ones you used to see. This succulent would be a perfect blog prop and add a much-needed bit of greenery to the flat.
As I mentioned earlier, mid-century modern has a very special place in my heart and these Russian space travel inspired prints are just gorgeous!
Lastly, some more fake flowers that look far from fake. Another blogger cliché, but I love peonies. I carried them on my wedding day and I just love how over the top and unapologetically feminine they are. I love having fresh flowers in my house to brighten up a room but it’s an expensive habit to keep. I don’t think anyone would know these blooms were fake!
Which were your favourite items from my Notonthehighstreet wishlist? What’s on your wishlist?

I love not on the high street. I’m moving to Paris in the new year and I’ll definitely be shopping on there myself.

PS – I’d go with the spotted placemats. They’re cute, still neutral and a lot easier to clean up by the look of it.

It’s a cliche for a reason – it’s so pretty! Blanket fiend is a brilliant way to describe it – there’s nothing nicer than snuggling up on a cold evening. Thank you for the luck!

Great minds indeed! I think treating yourself to some new things for a new house can make such a huge difference – even a small thing like cutlery! Hope the move went well 🙂
Definitely the spotty placemats. We were bought a furry blanket last year and he’s now one of my favourite things. His name is Clyde (I name things, I can’t help it…) and he’s ridiculously warm and snuggly.
