Last Minute Gift Guide

What I’m about to say may shock you. You may experience feelings of panic, nausea and dread. Please know that I’m with you on this… there are only 16 days until Christmas. I KNOW. If you’re like me you are woefully unprepared, this last minute gift guide is for you.

Last Minute Gift Guide: Fragrance, Nails and Make Up

I have gathered together 6 items that any beauty lover would be thrilled to receive, but they’re also great ideas for those people who you might not know very well (office secret santa, anyone?)

First up in my last minute gift guide is something I’ve spoken about on the blog before: the By Invitation fragrance*. Please do not be put off by the fact it says Michael Bublé on it! This is a seriously gorgeous floral-oriental perfume, in fact it featured in this favourites post. A gift set has been launched for Christmas that features the full size perfume and new body lotion with the same scent and it’s really affordable at £55 (for 100ml of perfume and 150ml of body lotion).

Another beautiful celebrity beauty launch is this unbelievable compact from Joan Collins. Yep, you read that right! When I first heard about the Joan Collins Timeless Beauty range I was pretty surprised, but actually it makes perfect sense: I can’t think of anyone that represents glamour, luxury and style more than her! Have you ever seen the video of her applying make up while being interviewed by Michael Parkinson? It’s WONDERFUL. The products in the Timeless Beauty range are varied and the packaging is just stunning, with a vintage inspired, almost Art Deco, detailing. The Compact Duo* (£34) featured here is a chic and classy addition to any handbag and includes pressed powder and a full-size lipstick. I chose the Divine Lips shade ‘Fontaine’, a cool-toned bright pink that is a beautiful and flattering shade. The formula is lovely: creamy without being sticky and very opaque. The packaging of the lipstick is very similar to the Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks, so if you like that vintage aesthetic then you’ll be a big fan of these. I love that you can still see the lipstick when the compact is closed because you certainly wouldn’t want to hide it!

BareMinerals are a brand that have been on my radar for so long because they always come up when people talk about make up that’s good for atypical skin. I finally got my hands on some of their products about a month ago so I’ve been testing them out and so far I’m very impressed. Keep an eye out for some detailed reviews soon! One of the products I’ve been loving is the cult-favourite BareMinerals Original Foundation, which is a loose powder that has been a best-seller since it launched. Shown below is the limited edition BareMinerals Double Platinum gift set*, which includes a full-size foundation (in this *stunning* diamond-inspired packaging) as well as the Beautiful Finish Brush, which is designed to pick up and distribute the fine powder product. This is £39 but is worth £53 if you bought the items separately – bargain!

Finally, we have some of the new Essie polishes from the Winter collection. I chose the most festive shades – Getting Groovy* (gold) and Ready to Boa* (bronze-red) – but you can see the full range swatched in this blog post. ALSO, in case you need any more enabling, you get a free Essie glitter with selected Essie purchases at Boots right now. It’d be rude not to, right?
