Today on the blog I have the most beautiful summery nail varnish that has been perking up my mood and look no end: Nails Inc Portland Square * has been the perfect push I needed to get me in the mood for summer.
I really love the Nails Inc packaging. Back in the day their bottles looked a lot like everyone else’s: round bottles, shiny silver lids. But these just grab you, they take up space, they feel more expensive and sturdy. Plus the massive lids come off to reveal dainty and easy-to-hold caps so don’t be put off by the packaging.
I’ve spoken on the blog before about the rise in the last few years of the ‘gel’ hybrid polishes that every brand seems to have released. They don’t need a lamp to cure the polish, they are easy to remove with regular nail varnish remover, they are designed to last about two weeks and are generally a lot more shiny than standard polishes.
This nail varnish went on really easily, thanks in part to the wide brush that makes application quick and painless. The formula is thick enough to give great coverage (this is two coats) but thin enough that it dries very quickly and has a really high shine. Basically, it’s ticking all my boxes!
The colour is obviously the most eye-catching thing about this polish, and wow is it a colour! I have always been a huge fan of orange-red nails, especially as soon as the sun makes an appearance. It brightens my mood, it brings a pop of colour to my outfits (especially as I dress in a lot of grey and black, even in the summer), and I think it looks great on any skin tone. But I think Nails Inc Portland Square may be my favourite orange-red polish in my collection… a big claim! (Also just in case you don’t know, all Nails Inc polishes are named after streets in London, which I really love)
This range of polishes are apparently infused with charcoal to protect your nails against environmental toxins and pollutants… there’s absolutely no way for me to test that but if there’s a secondary benefit to this beautiful polish then that’s a happy addition!
Do you have a favourite summer colour that perks up your nails, and your mood? Have you tried the Nails Inc Gel Effect polishes?
