Lady In Red: What I Wore To The Blogosphere Blog Awards

On Thursday I went to the Blogosphere Blog Awards in Kensington and had such a great time! I was still a little bit in shock to be nominated for Beauty Blogger of the Year, and so the whole thing was a bit of a blur. Take a look below to see what I wore…

I had no idea what the dress code would be for the awards, so I decided to go full on glamour and drama… I spend most days in my pyjamas with unwashed hair, so any excuse to get dressed up and I’m allll over it. The Blogosphere Blog Awards were so much fun: I got to see Vix and have a long-overdue catch up, finally met Hannah Gale (who went on to win Blogger of the Year, so well done to her!), the entertainment was great, the drinks were delicious and there were so many bloggers that I’d never met before.

I didn’t win my category, but I had kept my expectations low as The Sunday Girl‘s blog is incredible and so established that it was just amazing to be nominated alongside her. Thank you so much to everyone who nominated me, voted for me, and listened to me freaking out about it – you are all AMAZING.

Chi Chi Dione dress*, which is an absolutely stunning bright red, multi-layered dress. It has a full lining, a netted petticoat, as well as the intricate embroidered lace overlay. I absolutely loved the sweetheart neckline and the high lace scalloped edging around the collarbone and the cute cap sleeves. I hadn’t ever tried any clothes from Chi Chi but I felt like a princess and the colour was perfect for me. As someone with boobs but no hips, this style of dress is fantastic as it gives me the illusion of an hourglass figure – the dream!

I think the Chi Chi Simmi heels* were my favourite part of the outfit. The heels were such a nice shape and the bows just made them so fun and eye-catching. The ankle cuffs fasten with velcro so they’re very adjustable (so helpful when it’s 30+ degrees and your ankles are swelling to the size of an elephant’s…!) The heel is a stiletto and has a 4.5 inch heel. And I’ve just seen on the website that they come in a gorgeous grey-lilac colour as well… I may need to treat myself! I think these shoes look great with a glamorous dress like this one, but I’m looking forward to wearing them with some cropped skinny jeans and a chunky jumper in the autumn.

The beautiful leopard print bag is the Soho clutch from Aspinal* (no longer available but their current range is DREAMY, so have a peek HERE). I love this bag so much – it’s double-sided so you could either wear it as the sleek, black side or the incredible leopard print side, comes with a slim gold chain so you can wear it over the shoulder as well, and – unusually for a clutch – it’s quite well-sized. You can see it in another OOTD post HERE.

My hair styling was kindly provided by the Aer Blow Dry Bar* in Kensington. In hindsight, having a blow dry in a heatwave was maybe an error, but they did such a beautiful job. My stylist blow dried my hair, gave me some beachy waves, and then added this cute side braid to show off the neckline of the dress and keep me cool. The salon is very pretty and the staff are super friendly, so if you’re looking for a wonderful blow dry for an event or date then I highly recommend it!

My make up is my go-to make up look for when I want to feel confident and bold: smokey warm-toned eye make up and a bright red matte lip. I used my all-time favourite red lip colour, the Sephora Cream Lip Stain in ’01 Always Red’; my foundation was another favourite, DiorSkin Forever; and for my eye make up I used the Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadow quad in ‘Vintage Vamp. My nail colour is essie ‘To Have And To Gold’*.

What do you think about my Blogosphere Blog Awards outfit? Are you as in love with the shoes as I am? Let me know in the comments below!
