Fancy a sneak peek into this month’s Birchbox? Of course you do!

(In case you don’t know what Birchbox do or what I’m talking about, take a look HERE.)

An Evening At KMS California Training Academy

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to be invited to a Birchbox bloggers event with KMS California, at their amazing training academy.

I arrived after work, drank lots of champagne and chatted to other bloggers which was lovely. We then had a talk from one of the stylist trainers from the academy. She spoke about their inspiration for their salon products and took us through how they were developed, where they had taken ideas from and current trends. Each section was based on a particular hair look: sleek and straight, full of volume or waves, each of which has a range of hair products to help you prep the hair and style it perfectly. We were then taken into the salon and asked to choose which look we wanted to go for – I went for waves/curls and LOVED the results:

September Birchbox Happy Days

September Birchbox Happy Days

The lovely people at Birchbox sent me another box for me to rummage through. I’ve said it in a previous review, but I ADORE getting post. It always cheers me up, so what could be better than getting post that includes beauty samples? It’s genius.

So this month’s Birchbox theme is ‘Happy Days’…

August Away We Go Birchbox

August Away We Go Birchbox

This month’s Birchbox is a summery special which feels a bit out of place with the bloody awful weather we’ve been having in London: it is so cold I’ve considered putting the heating on. IN AUGUST. However, this box is aimed at those lucky people who are heading away on their holidays. I’ve already been away this summer on my honeymoon, but who doesn’t love a mini beauty product?! No one, that’s who.

Birchbox May Box With Harper’s Bazaar

Birchbox May Box With Harper’s Bazaar

When this arrived at work I did a full-on squeal of delight. My colleagues must think I’m insane. But LOOK AT IT. So pretty. I’ve spoken before about my love for packaging and how things are presented and this is no different.

For this month’s box, Birchbox teamed up with Harper’s Bazaar: the contents were chosen by a team comprised of experts from the magazine and the usual excellent editors from Birchbox. And this is a really special box. The contents are pictured below but here’s some more detail:

  • Soigne nail varnish – a full size bottle from a new salon brand
  • Liz Early ‘Cleanse & Polish’ Hot cloth cleanser – This was the item I was most excited about. This is a cult beauty product, and with good reason: it has been announced this week that it has won 100 beauty awards. You can see why I was excited. I cannot wait to try this, and as the full size is not that cheap, it’s good to be able to try a sample size to see if it gets on with my sensitive skin. It comes with a little muslin cloth as well.
  • Aromatherapy Associates bath/shower oil – I ADORE AA products. They smell incredible and really do work. I had a sample of another from their oil range and it is really lovely added to a warm bath. The scent really lingers afterwards and makes your skin feel super smooth.
  • Imedeen supplements – Vitamin C and zinc supplements aimed at improving skin clarity and smoothness. I’m always a bit dubious about tablets like these but I will give them a go!
  • Philip Kingsley ‘One More Day’ dry shampoo – miniature. I love PK products, they smell lovely and the packaging feels very luxe. I’ve not tried the dry shampoo but I use Batiste nearly every day so this will be going straight in my drawer at work for emergency touch ups!
  • Benefit ‘They’re Real’ mascara – a miniature. You may have seen my review of this mascara: I wasn’t a fan. However, I will regift this to my mum as she travels a lot and could do with a travel size mascara.

This is a fantastic box and you can tell the team from Birchbox and Harper’s Bazaar really put a lot of thought into its curation.

This box will be sent to all Birchbox subscribers – it’s not an extra one and no separate payment is needed. What I also like about Birchbox is that if you like the look of this box, you can sign up to subscribe until the last day in May and still receive this box – there isn’t some silly rule about waiting a month for your subscription to kick in.

I reviewed April’s box HERE where I also give more information about the subscription packages.

Are you tempted by a Birchbox subscription? I am definitely a convert!

First look at April’s Birchbox

First look at April’s Birchbox!

Last week I received an email from Birchbox asking if I would like to receive their April box to review and I was thrilled! I’ve done lots of research into Birchbox and am always tempted but then look at my piles of unused and unloved products and talk myself out of it. But this may have changed my mind…

There may be some of you thinking what the hell is a Birchbox? A very good question.

It’s a beauty subscription box: you pay a monthly fee and every month they send you a beautiful box packed full of ‘high-end beauty and lifestyle samples’ for you to try. Then, if you like them, you can then buy full-size products on the Birchbox e-shop. Each box comes with a booklet giving you more information and tips for using each product; lifestyle recommendations (music, TV, films, food and beauty); as well as recipes (salted caramel cupcakes? Yes please).

So what did I get?

TheBalm Cosmetics ‘How ‘Bout Them Apples?’ Cheek & lip cream

Laura Mercier ‘Ambre Vanille’ souffle body creme (this smells absolutely DIVINE)

ProperCorn sweet coconut & vanilla popcorn

And how much does it cost?

A monthly recurring subscription is £10. You can cancel at any time and even get a refund if you’re not happy and send back within 14 days (with products unused, OBV).

A six monthly subscription is £50 (one box free)

A year subscription is £90 (three boxes free)

You also earn reward points with every box bought which can be redeemed against items in the Birchbox e-shop.

Pretty good, right? I love the idea of being able to try lots of different products in sample size. Have you tried Birchbox? Are you tempted? You can get more information or sign up HERE.
