I’ve been lucky enough to review quite a lot of facials, treatments and salons and each one is very different. Some are super relaxing, some are all business, some facialists are completely silent, focusing on the task at hand, while others talk you through the treatment and put you at ease through their demeanour. My recent Environ Hydroboost Facial was a lovely combination of all of the above.

When I first started this blog I was petrified of facials. In fact, just scared of anyone touching my face. I worked so hard to learn my skin’s likes and dislikes, knew exactly how to cleanse it, apply products, what to use while minimising aggravation and avoiding flare ups. The idea of letting a stranger play around with my face for an hour while I ‘relaxed’ was laughable. But in the past year or so I’ve had some incredible facials that have proved to me that you just need to do your research and find treatments that suit you and practitioners who will understand your fears. I had been to the Premier Laser Clinic before (for THIS treatment) but was excited to try the Vitamin C Peel*.

I’m going to start out by saying that if you’re squeamish or don’t like blood then maybe you should sit this post out! You may have heard about Dracula PRP Therapy as a similar facial was made famous by Kim Kardashian and since then has been featured in the media a lot, mostly due to its shock factor.

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to be invited to review the Dracula PRP Therapy* (PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma, FYI) with Dr Sister who was the first person to introduce the treatment to the UK. I did a lot of reading up about Dr Sister and the treatment before my appointment as I was very nervous, but hearing that Dr Sister has conducted this facial over 700 times definitely helped to put my mind at ease, along with the fact that over 6,000 medical studies have been published proving PRP’s effectiveness. Pretty impressive!

For years I couldn’t trust anyone else around my face, worried that they’d use a product or a technique that would irritate my rosacea. But now that I’ve discovered that my super-sensitive, reactive skin can handle facials, there’s no stopping me! Read all about my MicroZone Dermalogica facial at One New Change* below…
