If you’re a regular round these parts you will know that I’m a big fan of subscription boxes. You get new treats to try out every month, you don’t have to go to the shops where there are ~other people~, plus I get ridiculously giddy about receiving post. (That can’t just be me, right?)

So when I was asked to test out a nail varnish subscription box I was SUPER excited. There have been a few nail polish subscriptions floating around but they were ones that sent you a few bottles to *try* and you would then post them back. Weird. With NailBox you receive your box and get to keep your goodies. Much better.

Here is what I received in the first box (not pictured was a Nails Inc nail file)

OOTD: We’ll Always Have Paris (…in North London)

This is my first proper outfit post and I really want to start doing more. I had to rope Aaron into being my photographer and felt pretty stupid stood on the street but am really pleased with the pictures.

Rebuy or Bye Bye #1

Rebuy or Bye Bye #1: July/August

This is my first empties post. Empties posts are quite controversial in the bloggersphere: some hate them and see them as pointless and gross. I, on the other hand, find them fascinating. They are mini-reviews in the themselves plus, when you consider how many products us beautyphiles use, it’s pretty amazing to actually finish products!

Revlon Plum Night

Revlon Plum Night

I found these photos on my computer and realised that I had never blogged them. This manicure was done just after a few nails breaks, hence the uneven nail lengths – I apologise!

Revlon Plum Night is a rich aubergine coloured cream polish that is absolute perfection in 2 coats. This is a glorious autumnal colour and, as we are meant to be in summer but it’s freezing and raining, I’m going to allow myself to bust out this colour now! At first glance this nail varnish would look almost black, but the plum tones to it really come out in natural light and give this an interesting depth, as you can see in the picture below. This manicure is topped with Seche Vite (of course).

You can buy this nail varnish for £4.99 HERE.

Revlon 260 Girly Review

Revlon 260 Girly Review

I have been eyeing up this beautiful polish for ages and I finally caved in. And I’m so glad I did. This is a pinky-lilac sheer base  nail varnish, with multi-sized, multi-coloured hex glitters (blue, purple, baby pink, fuchsia…*swoon*). The glitter sits really well with normal application, so you don’t need to place the glitter like you do in some polishes. I love the way the glitter peeks through the base, almost like a jelly sandwich manicure in one bottle!

This was two coats of polish, which pleasantly surprised me. Also, glitters like this are usually top coat thirsty and need at least two coats to sit smoothly but this only needed one coat of Seche Vite. I am totally smitten!

You can buy this lovely polish HERE.

Revlon One Perfect Coral Revlon-One-Perfect-Coral-2 Revlon-One-Perfect-Coral

Revlon One Perfect Coral

My love for Revlon’s polishes grows every time I use one. I bought this just before I went on holiday as it is the perfect colour for sunshine – coral is such a pretty colour and this one is just on the right side of orange.

This is 3 thin coats, which surprised me as most of their polishes are two coaters, topped with Seche Vite (of course). I think this colour is now discontinued, but you can pick up the current Revlon range HERE.

Do you have any favourite Revlon shades? I’m always looking to expand my collection 😉

Revlon Matte Suede Ruby Ribbon

Revlon Matte Suede Ruby Ribbon

I was so intrigued when I saw these Matte Suede polishes. Textured finishes are going to continue to be big this year and this polish has definitely converted me to matte/textured finishes. The finish falls somewhere between a matte topcoat effect and the new liquid sand polishes.

As it is a matte finish nail varnish, these swatches are obviously shown without top coat. I like this effect but it was tricky to get a smooth finish, as the polish starts to turn matte very quickly so has a tendency to drag and go bumpy. You have to be quick and precise to avoid an annoying cleanup, which may put off some people.

What do you guys think of the matte suede finishes? Or textured finishes in general? Let me know in the comments!

I can’t find the Revlon Matte Suede collection anywhere online (except Amazon…) but you can find the current Revlon range HERE.
