Gold Gradient Nail Art Gold Gradient Nail Art

Gold Gradient Nail Art

I missed Nail Art Sunday as I was absolutely shattered: I’ve been away at Creamfields (a music festival in the north of England) working so didn’t really get a weekend. But here we are, a day late!

I decided to do a gradient for this week’s nail art as I think gradients are a fairly simple way to make your nails stand out. I used a white base coat by Natural Collection. I find it hard to find a good white nail varnish but this one is pretty opaque and dries really quickly so it’s my go to white at the moment. I then sponged a glittery gold onto my tips: I used Collection ‘Shimmy Shake’.

I went against tradition and used Essie’s ‘Good To Go’ topcoat as my Seche Vite has run out. Now I remember why I never use it! It’s nowhere near as shiny, was really runny and didn’t dry quickly at all. Half an hour after I’d finished my nails I was still able to dent the polish with my nail: not good! I have already re-ordered Seche Vite so I don’t have to be without it. I will never forsake you again!

Lac Attack Dementor's Kiss

Lac Attack Dementor’s Kiss

My Lac Attack polishes arrived today and it was so hard to decide which to swatch first. I really love white, black and red as a colour combination so I picked Lac Attack Dementor’s Kiss.

This is a clear-based polish with multi-sized black hex glitter and large red hex glitter. Swoon!

These pictures show one coat of ‘Dementor’s Kiss’ over one coat of OPI’s ‘Skull and Glossbones’, with a top coat of Seche Vite. I am so impressed by the glitter and application. It almost reminds me of lace from far away.

I am so glad I got these polishes, I am seriously thrilled with them!

You can find Lac Attack nail polishes on Harlow&Co HERE.

OPI At First Sight Nail Varnish

OPI At First Sight Nail Varnish

This is a super pretty ivory, pearl-finish polish with a gold glow. This needed 3 fairly thick coats to get rid of the visible nail line, and was then topped with a layer of Seche Vite. It’s not really my kind of polish as I prefer bright colours and I’m not a fan of pearl finishes typically… but it’s very pretty and I think it would look lovely on shorter nails. Maybe the pearl effect coupled with my long nails makes it look a bit 80s?

Good evening 🙂

Today’s theme was ‘Inspired by fashion’ and I immediately thought of the below top by Balmain. It is so beautiful I would consider selling my own mother to get it.

I did 2 coats of white polish (Rimmel) and applied fast-drying top coat (ORLY Sec ‘n’ Dry). I then used 17’s ‘Fury’ and some strategically-placed tape to achieve most of the straight lines. I used a tiny paintbrush to freehand the rest.

I applied another layer of top coat and then used my favourite glitter polish (Models Own ‘Judge Jools’) and a spotting tool to go over the gold.

The above pictures are artificial light as the glitter showed up better in that for some reason. I took the ones below in natural light.

For my right hand I did 2 coats of the white polish and then topped with one layer of the Models Own glitter. It looks so Christmassy!! I love it!!

(Again, first pic in artificial light, no flash, and second pic in natural light)
