Since my ‘how to…’ Galaxy nail art blog has gone mental with tons of retweets, I thought I’d ask what other tutorials you guys would like?
Is there a nail art effect or pattern that you’ve always wanted to do? Anything you want tips on? Leave your request in the comments below and I’ll put some tutorials together!
This is the beautifully bright ‘Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes’. A clear based polish with varying sizes of glitter in orange, yellow, red and gold. Also, I have never ever seen the appeal of bar glitter but I LOVE it in this.
This is one layer of WWW over Collection 2000’s ‘Blue Hawaii’, topped with Seche Vite. I did have to do some placement of the glitter but nothing too difficult.
Just look at it! *Gazes lovingly at nails*
I bought this polish ages ago but took so long to get round to swatching it that I forgot how pretty it looked. I think I first picked it up hoping that it was a Chanel ‘Peridot’ dupe.
And I was pleasantly surprised! It’s one of the best dupes I’ve seen for the Chanel beauty. It’s a gorgeous green/gold duochrome that just seems to glow. It is hard not to keep looking at it, as the colours flash and change every time you move.
If you have been lusting after the Chanel version but are low on funds then I would definitely recommend this.
This is two coats with Seche Vite.
My Lac Attack polishes arrived and it was so hard to decide which to swatch first. I love white, black and red together so I picked ‘Dementor’s Kiss’.
This is a clear based polish with multi-sized black hex glitter and large red hex glitter.
This is one coat of ‘Dementor’s Kiss’ over one coat of OPI’s ‘Skull and Glossbones’, with a top coat of Seche Vite. I am so impressed by the glitter and application. It almost reminds me of lace from far away.
I am so glad I got these polishes, I am thrilled with them!
I was so intrigued when I saw these Matte Suede polishes. Textured finishes are going to continue to be big this year and this has definitely converted me. The finish falls somewhere between a matte topcoat effect and the new liquid sand polishes.
This is obviously shown without top coat. I like this effect but it was tricky to get a smooth finish, as it starts to turn matte very quickly so has a tendency to drag and go bumpy. You have to be quick and precise to avoid an annoying cleanup.
What do you guys think of the matte suede finishes? Or textured finishes in general?
Have I mentioned that I love my light box? I can’t get over it. It makes me so happy!
I make no secret of my love for Barry M nail varnishes and this one has just rocketed into my all time favourites. It is a dark berry red with an amazing shine even without top coat. It applied like a dream and had full coverage in two coats. Perfect.
Rimmel ‘Block Your Green’ nail varnish review
I have had my eye on Rimmel’s ‘Block Your Green’ for a few months but kept talking myself out of buying it.
I’m still kind of undecided on it. It is almost a jelly which I wasn’t expecting: this is two layers and you can still see a hint of VNL. It was also a bit more teal-y in artificial light than it looks here, which I prefer. BUT it also has a lovely subtle vibrant blue shimmer to it that you can see in certain lights. Ahhh undecided…
Rimmel ‘Baby Pink’ review with swatches
Today’s swatch is Rimmel’s excitingly named ‘Baby Pink’: a pretty pink creme polish.
This is two coats with Seche Vite on top (as always). I’m not a massive fan of baby pink but this is bright enough for me to quite like it!
Models Own ‘Aciiied’ review with swatches
My lovely fiance built me a light box and I am in love. I don’t have to wait for the 20 seconds in a British day where there is daylight to take photos! It is amazing!
This is ‘Aciiied’ by Models Own, a bright neon lime green that is as pretty as it is garish. I love bright colours and this is definitely a new favourite. This is two coats with a Seche Vite topcoat.
Gabrini ‘363’ review with swatches
Today’s swatch is Gabrini’s excitingly-named ‘363’ (I HATE polishes with no names… such a missed opportunity for fun!)
So apparently Pantone’s colour of the year for 2013 is Emerald which is wonderful news as green is my all time favourite colour. This is a lovely dark green shimmer polish that has a beautiful glow in the light.
This is two coats with Seche Vite.
Barry M ‘Berry Ice Cream’ nail varnish review with swatches
Today’s swatch is Barry M’s ‘Berry Ice Cream’, a pretty lilac pastel polish.
It has quite a thin consistency, unlike some of their other pastels that I’ve tried. This was two thick coats, topped with Seche Vite.
It is a lot more vibrant than my other lilac pastels, but it has grown on me. And a lot of people have asked what it is - always a sign of a good polish!
I’m going to be adding some embellishments to this before I go out tonight as I get bored too easily with plain manis!
