SWATCH: Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine ‘Grapefruit 235’
I didn’t know what to expect from BArry M’s foray into jelly polishes. It wasn’t sheer and squidgy (you know what I mean!) like true jelly polishes, and it was actually a bit of a nightmare to apply - steaky, draggy and gloopy. But the final result is lovely and so shiny - with no top coat. So I am torn!
Has anyone else tried these?

SWATCH: GOSH ‘549 Holographic Hero’
I have been searching for this polish forever. When I found it I did a little squeak (and then bought two bottles, just in case!)
I can’t believe just how holographic it is, so beautiful. This is two coats of polish AND I only put top coat on the ring finger, in order to show you that it is this beautiful even without top coat!

Models Own Glitterball…
I was so excited to try out the new Giltterball and Wonderland polishes from Models Own. Boots online decided to send me two bottles of Boogie Nights instead of sending that and Hot Stuff and missed Southern Lights off my order, which is fairly annoying but will be sorted tomorrow hopefully.
Here are the details…
Dancing Queen (Glitterball) - clear base with GLITTER: teeny tiny gold; gold, blue and green small hex; tiny gold circular; iridescent silver diamond-shaped; and irregular shards of blue, green and gold.
Disco Inferno (Glitterball) - clear base with GLITTER: teeny tiny orange; small green hex; medium sized gold hex; iridescent square; and irregular shaped gold.
Boogie Nights (Glitterball) - clear base with GLITTER: teeny tiny pink; small blue and purple hex; irregular iridescent lilac.
Blizzard (Wonderland) - clear base with GLITTER: teeny tiny silver; small silver, green and gold hex; small iridescent squares.
Snowflakes - clear base with iridescent green/blue/gold irregular shards.
I LOVE THEM ALL.
I ran out of fingers for swatching so will be doing the rest next week! They are all beautiful though. So glad I ordered them.

Nail care…

I get a lot of questions on Tumblr and Twitter about basic nail care. I did a post on this when I first started my blog but it always bears repeating. You can spend time and money on the best manicures in the world, but if the canvas is sub-par then it will either look crap or not last.

Let it be known that I have no official training, these are just tips that I have picked up through years of a nail addiction!

SWATCH: Illamasqua ‘Wink’
This is my first Illamasqua nail polish and I think I chose very well!
‘Wink’ is a very pale lilac creme from their 2010 Spring pastels collection. It’s a gorgeous lavender that applied so perfectly, something that’s unheard of with pastels. I only needed two coats and the first layer on my left hand was dry as I finished my right hand. Perfection.
I can tell I will be on the look out for more Illasmasqua nail varnishes in future!

SWATCH: OPI ‘Gouda Gouda Two Shoes’…
This is my third polish from OPIs 2012 Holland collection.
(‘Thanks A Windmillion’ is reviewed here [on my old square nails which now look AWFUL compared to my points]: http://talonted.tumblr.com/post/18661802839, and ‘A Roll In The Hague’ is reviewed here: http://talonted.tumblr.com/post/18659514457).
This polish dries a lot darker than it looks in the bottle, when I saw it in the airport I thought it looked a bit similar to Chanel’s ‘Rose Confidentiel’ but it is actually a much darker, warm rose colour, with a beautiful coppery-gold shimmer when you see it in the sun.
As with most OPI polishes, it is a two-coater and dries super quickly. This is a really nice colour for the oncoming autumnal weather: warm and pretty, girly without being too pink. Perfect.

SWATCH: Inglot ‘722’
The first of my Dubai holiday haul is from a company called Inglot. I had never heard of them but apparently they are worldwide.
I love yellow polish but this one is special as it’s my first matte polish. I need some practice getting the finish a bit smoother: I definitely missed having a top coat to smooth everything out. But I love the matte effect and, for such a bright colour, I only needed two coats.
This colour certainly gave me my holiday feeling back, which I needed after returning from 40+ heat to 10 degrees in London!!

Holiday polish haul…
I had an amazing holiday in Dubai. If you’ve never been, I cannot recommend it enough. It is beautiful and crazy and so goddamn hot it’s unbelievable. Plus - very exciting news - I got engaged while I was over there! Eeeee!! So happy :D
So! Back to polishes!
The top picture is of the polishes I got in Dubai. The second picture is of polishes a lovely work colleague gave me as she was having a clear out. Free nail varnish - hooray!!
I have a few swatches to follow of some of the new polishes, though it was hard to pick as they are all so lovely.
It feels good to be blogging again. I’ve missed it!
