April ’15 Beauty And Lifestyle Favourites

Every month I try to select my favourite products and items: the things I’ve been reaching for a lot more than others and want to recommend. These posts are mini-reviews and I really enjoy doing them – it’s interesting to see how my tastes and uses change over the months!

Let’s crack on with my April favourites, shall we?

I love my Kindle. True love. It’s always in my handbag and it saves my sanity on the tube every morning. I can’t count the number of times I’ve got on the wrong tube or missed my stop because I’m engrossed in a book. And this month was no different. I wasn’t reading one book for a month but this one really stood out as my favourite: ‘The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August’ by Claire North. It’s a wonderful, clever and engaging story that I’ve since bought in paperback so I can get my husband to read it which is an endorsement in itself! Get it HERE.

If you haven’t heard of MakeUp Revolution by now then you must have been living under a rock. Hugely affordable, massive selection and new products being released at a rate of knots. Their eyeshadow palettes are incredible and I have been choosing the Salvation palette every morning recently due to its varied colour choices and long-lasting formula. You can get it HERE.

A few weeks ago I went to an event for B.’s SS15 collection and this B. Popping Candy Highlighting Serum was in the gift bag. I was a bit suspicious of it at first simply because I hadn’t tried anything similar before: It is highlighter cream balls suspended in clear serum. When you squeeze the pump it comes out as a regular cream and makes the most beautiful and glowy base under foundation. I’ve been wearing it pretty much everyday and now really notice the difference if I skip it! Get it HERE.

Months ago I was lucky enough to meet Neil Capstick, the genius behind Neäl & Wølf. He was really friendly and interested in hearing about my blog and very kindly gave me some products to review which I am still getting through. But since I’ve had my hair cut this product has been a favourite of mine: Neäl & Wølf Volumising Lotion. I comb this through my hair using my fingers and then roughly blow dry my hair upside down and it gives it lift, body and texture. Plus it smells SO GOOD. Get it HERE.

If you follow me on instagram (@TalontedLex) then you will have seen that I did a mini review of this new foundation from L’Oreal Paris Infallible 24-hr Matte. It is a revelation. It’s medium-high coverage without being cakey or thick, it’s very blendable and stays matte for nearly the whole day. If you want to see how well it copes with covering my rosacea, then take a look here! You can buy this HERE.

Now that the weather is getting slightly warmer, my make up is getting a bit dewier. To go along with my glowy base from the B. highlighter I mentioned earlier, I’ve been reaching for gel and cream blushers a bit more. This one from Josie Maran, the Coconut Watercolour Cheek Gelee, is my current favourite. It’s very sheer and gives a lovely fresh and natural look. You can get it from Sephora HERE.

Waxperts Wonder Pads* are my new best friend. This month I suddenly realised that it will be summer before we know and I might have *gasp* get my legs out. THE HORROR. I am so lazy with moisturiser and body scrubs so my legs tend to look like a lizard’s and they are also very sensitive to shaving and waxing. I get angry red bumps and ingrown hairs and it’s just not a good situation. I was sent these amazing pads to try and they are just genius. They are exfoliating pads in a stack, containing salicylic acid which helps to combat ingrown hairs so I am feeling slightly less fearful about the potential leg exposure…

The Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier eau fraîchee parfumée was a present from my parents for Christmas. I had been sniffing this scent every time I went in Marks & Spencer and was obsessed. It’s very fruity and unusual. As the days get warmer I’ve been liking a lighter, fresher scent so this is the current top choice. You can buy this HERE.

I have a problem when it comes to mascaras, I can’t stop. I have so many but I can’t stop trying new ones. This is one of the best I’ve tried in a very long time: the new Maybelline Lash Sensational. It really opens up my eyes, gives great length and separation and doesn’t transfer onto even my oily eyelids. The only issue I have with it is that it’s a very wet mascara so you have to be careful not to let it transfer while it’s drying. Buy it HERE.
