Go Fragrance-Free With Green People #AD

Smell is one of the most evocative senses we have: a certain scent can transport you to a different time in your life, a different country or remind you of a person so vividly it is like they’re in the room. But fragrance, for all its charm and perks, can be one of the biggest enemies of those with sensitive skin. As someone who has very temperamental skin, I know that it’s hard to find products that not only work but don’t have irritating ingredients. In today’s blog post I want to talk about how you can go fragrance-free with Green People. Also stick around to the end of the post to get a code for a free sample pack of the Green People range!

Go Fragrance-Free with Skincare from Green People - perfect for sensitive skin // Talonted Lex

I’ve spoken about Green People before in my Skincare Shake Ups (which you can find here) and raved about their gentle formulas and calming ingredients. But today I want to talk about their wonderful scent-free range.

When I was first diagnosed with rosacea I had never heard of the condition and hadn’t the foggiest idea how to cope with it. Over the years, I used trial and error to find products that worked for me (and believe me, there was a lot of error!) I did tons of research, scoured forums, spoke to dermatologists, doctors, and nutritionists. I started to build up a list of ingredients that my skin loved (camomile, cucumber, aloe vera, green tea, and avocado to name a few) and ones that my skin definitely did not like (tea tree, witch hazel, menthol, alcohol…) With many of the latter ingredients, the product is described as invigorating, clarifying, or energising which helped alert me to their potential to flare up my skin. But fragrance wasn’t something that even crossed my mind and, once I made an effort to go fragrance-free, I couldn’t believe how many products I found it in. Especially products that profess to be aimed at sensitive and atypical skin… *side eye*

The scent-free range from Green People takes some of the guesswork out of finding skincare appropriate for easily-irritated skin. So we’ve covered the ‘no added fragrance’ bit, but the range also boasts no SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulphate, a detergent used in lots of skincare and hair products that is a known irritant), no parabens (these are preservatives that keep products fresh and ready to use for longer. Parabens are a contested area, with some thinking they get a bad rap. However, if you have easily irritated skin, it may be worth cutting them out if you can), and no essential oils. This means these products are very popular with people who have psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis or rosacea, as well as people who are just mindful of the products they are using on their skin.

I’ve tried a few products from Green People, but these are some of my absolute favourites: I love the Hydrating Calming Serum* – this is very light-weight and soothing, while still giving you a lot of hydration. One of the products I’ve been trying out recently is the Scent-Free Shampoo* and Scent-Free Conditioner* – we often don’t think about how the products we use on our hair can affect our skin, but the water often runs from our heads down to our faces and any irritation on the scalp can trigger a rosacea flare up for me, so it’s another thing to look at carefully if you are trying to identify triggers or irritants. Finally I’ve been using the Anti-Ageing 24 Hour Cream* a lot, which I slather on in a thick layer as a face mask if my skin is feeling angry or tight.

Do you want to go fragrance-free and see if this skincare regime could help your skin? The lovely guys at Green People understand how scary and frustrating it can be to try new skincare and risk paying for something that is not suitable for your skin, so they have kindly arranged for my readers to get a free skincare sample bundle that includes the Hydrating Calming Serum, Light Day Moisturiser and Scent-Free Sun Lotion. All you have to do is go to this link, add the kit to your basket, enter the code TALONTEDLEX at the checkout and you’ll get it for free! (Maximum 3 per household. Please note that readers outside the UK will have to pay for delivery)

In other very exciting news, I’m taking over the Green People Instagram this weekend. I’ll be posting about my favourite products (including some new ones I’ve been testing out this month) and giving my recommendations – I would love it if you stopped by and said hi!

Let’s have a natter in the comments below – do you avoid certain ingredients in your skincare? Do you know what your triggers are? Would you go fragrance-free? I’d love to know if you’ve ordered your free sample and what you think of it too!
