MeeBox December: A Christmassy Glitter Explosion!

If there are two things guaranteed to make me happy it’s Christmas and glitter. So the new MeeBox December offering is right up my street. I have swatches of each of the goodies so let’s get cracking…

MeeBox December - a Christmas glitter explosion!

In case you’re not aware of MeeBox*, they’re a brilliant subscription box but instead of the typical beauty box filled with samples, the MeeBox is filled with all things nails and – even better – contains full size items. Each monthly box will have 4-5 nail-related items, as a general rule that tends to be 3 nail polishes and 2 tools or nail art goodies.

Enough waffling. Prepare for a glitter explosion… introducing the Meebox December edition!

MeeBox December - the subscription box that every nail lover needs!

Let’s start with this beautiful beast: I’ve been following Floss Gloss on instagram for ages. They make seriously fun and unusual polishes and this one is flipping beautiful. ‘Dimepiece’ is packed with holographic glitter.

Floss Gloss 'Dimepiece', amazing holographic glitter.

I only needed two coats to achieve full opacity which is incredible. It applied really smoothly and isn’t too top-coat-hungry: the below is shown with only one coat of Seche Vite. I did a couple of glitter gradient nails (over Floss Gloss ‘Palazzo Pleasures) to mix it up a little. So pretty!

Next up is Little Ondine ‘Rumba’. A really fun and glitter polish. It has lilac, orange, and yellow glitters in a clear base and mixes bar, circular, hexagon and dot glitters – LOVE! And the best part? Little Ondine’s USP is that their nail varnishes are peel-off formulas. Yep, you heard me. No annoying glitter polish removal, it just peels off in one go with no nail damage.

The third and final nail varnish in the MeeBox December box is from a-england, a brand I’ve loved since way back when I started this blog. Famous for holographic polishes, this one is no different. ‘Crown of Thistles’ is a rich and luxurious purple with rainbow holo particles. It is absolutely stunning when it catches the light, I really recommend you check out all of the a-england range!

The first of the two nail art items was this little pot, filled with NAIO Cracked Ice glitter shards in ‘Aqua’. These are a bit fiddly and messy (I’d recommend putting down a magazine or some paper before application!) but the result is so pretty. I applied essie ‘Udon Know Me’ as a base coat and waited for that to dry. I then applied top coat to small sections of the nail and, using a dotting tool, dipped into the glitter and tapped the excess onto my wet nail. You can use the dotting tool to place the shards if you want a more considered look. I then applied Seche Vite over the top. I love the way this looks!

I’ve been saving the best for last. When I saw a holographic nail art sheet in the box I was so flipping excited but a bit apprehensive: shattered glass nail art has been on my to-do list for AGES but I never got round it. So here is my first attempt… I’m in love! I am tempted to do a short YouTube tutorial on this so let me know in the comments below if that’s something you’d be interested in?

Again, it’s a little fiddly as it involves snipping, placing and careful top coat application but I think I’ve got it down. My next attempt will avoid the overhanging bits at the edges! The base coat is Morgan Taylor ‘Rule The Runway’, for those interested in a gorgeous grey polish.

I think the MeeBox December edition has far surpassed my expectations for the Christmas theme. This is just unbelievable!

The boxes are £20 which is a bargain (the contents of this box would have cost you over £30 to buy yourself!) but there are discounts if you get a longer subscription. You can sign up HERE.

Which is your favourite from this month’s box? Let me know in the comments below!

I would love to see any YouTube videos on any of the nail art you try. Especially the first attempts at something because we get to watch first hand when mistakes happen.
