Revlon Colorstay Foundation Review #RosaceaReview

I have finally returned to YouTube! It’s been four months since my last video which has flown by. YouTube was starting to erode my self-confidence (seeing your face in HD is not great for your self-esteem!) and I wanted to take a little break to think about the types of videos I wanted to make and where I fitted in within the YouTube community. I think I’m going to focus on my #RosaceaReview videos and make up looks rather than the chatty videos, they feel less pressured in some way. I hope you enjoy my Revlon Colorstay foundation review, please do like, subscribe, comment and share if you like it. I’m a bit nervous about coming back after so long but actually really enjoyed filming this!

Revlon Colorstay Foundation Review

I was excited to try the Revlon Colorstay foundation as I’ve heard so many people compare it to Estee Lauder Double Wear, a cult foundation for those who like high coverage make up. As I mention in the video, I’ve never tried Double Wear as I was recommended the Estee Lauder Double Wear Light and loved that so much I wore it on my wedding day. Revlon Colorstay used to be raved about as a dupe for ELDW, but a few years ago they changed the formula and the beauty community was up in arms. I’m not sure if Revlon took the criticism on board and announced a return to their original formula, but people have been flocking back to the Revlon Colorstay fold and reporting back with positive news.

It has a pump (hooray!) and the formula is quite a thin liquid. I did one light coat all over my face and only needed to go back in with a second layer on the apples of my cheeks and on my nose (where my broken veins are most severe). In some patches it looked a little dry, but this is the ‘combination/oily’ version of the foundation, so if you’re dry then maybe the other version would work better for you.

I found it lasts really well throughout the day. I wear a primer and set with loose powder and found that, although it wasn’t still matte at the end of the day it had a natural finish and glow, as opposed to a shiny, greasy look.

Overall I’m really pleased to have found another affordable foundation that is medium-but-buildable coverage. I think I had very high hopes due to its hyped cult status, so I was a little disappointed that it wasn’t totally full coverage from the get-go, but I still think it’s a great affordable option.

What are you favourite foundations? You get extra points if they’re highstreet brands and high coverage! Let me know in the comments below.

I bought Revlon Colorstay foundation in Buff 150 recently and found the colour a close match to my skin but made me look a little pale/washed out. Just wondering what shade you use as I think we have similar skin tone.
Also interested to hear which setting spray you use as this is something I’d like to try for the summer. Thanks!
