Ciaté Gelology Review: Duochromes A-Go-Go!

I’ve only tried a few polishes from Ciaté over the years and they were minis from their infamous nail varnish advent calendars, so I was keen to dig into the following shades, all from the Ciaté Gelology range.

Ciaté Geology polishes

The polishes are Ciaté’s version of the gel hybrid polishes that have been around for a while, designed to combine the longevity of gel polish with the ease of application and removal of regular nail varnish. I think if I hadn’t known these were ‘gel’ polishes I wouldn’t have guessed it: they’re missing that hyper-shiny, plump look that you get with others. However, I think this could be down to the formulas and finishes. Duochrome polishes are often more matte and textured in their finish so maybe that had a part to play? I’d be interested to try some of the more traditional creme polishes from the range to see if they were different.

I have four polishes from the Ciaté Geology range to show you today, thanks to a lovely blogger pal who gifted them to me. And I’m so pleased because they are some beauties! Starting with…

Ciaté Gelology Super Nova, a pearly sheer polish that leans pink, then lilac, then grey depending on the light. I applied two coats over a very sheer cream polish as I really don’t like sheer polishes that show the nail line too obviously, but the colour shown here is still a true representation of if I’d applied it over naked nails.

Ciaté Gelology Part Time Mermaid is a sea-foam green duochrome that has a beautiful pinky/purple shift. This isn’t a colour I would usually go for, but I can’t deny that it’s a seriously pretty shade. This was two thin coats.

Ciaté Gelology Goal Digger is a must-have if you’re a fan of rose-gold toned polishes. This is a stunning metallic nail varnish that only needed one thin coat for this gorgeous finish. When you look at it closely, it has a mixture of bronze, silver and pink flecks that gives it great dimension, similar to the Barry M Molten Metals but a little more pigmented.

And finally we have my personal favourite, Ciaté Gelology Moondust. This one really surprised me with how much I loved it. It’s has a rich purple base, with a bright gold shift throughout but at times it looks blue/green as you can see in the close up picture of the bottle below. It is RIDICULOUS.

What do you think to the Ciaté Gelology polishes? Do you think you’ll be picking any up?

They are so dreamy aren’t they? So much prettier than they look in the bottles!
