Friday Faves: Beauty, Bling, & Body

I am resisting the obvious opener to this blog post with every fibre of my being. We all know what month it is. We all understand how time works. But we’re all still somehow surprised… Anyway, today is Friday which means that it’s time for Friday Faves and this week has a great collection of bits that I’ve been seriously impressed with this week so feast your eyes!

Friday Faves - Zeal and Heart jewellery

Let’s start my Friday Faves with the most exciting thing: my Zeal and Heart necklace*. The lovely Bex from the RunawayKiwi blog has started an incredible jewellery business and her beautiful necklaces are available HERE. You can even request your own design! Just imagine all the cute personalised presents you could get for your friends, family, hen parties… so many exciting options. If you want to support an independent business then Bex is a very worthy recipient of that support (and I’m not just saying this because she feeds me gin…)

Friday Faves: Rodial Skin Tint

If you follow me on Instagram you my have seen me mention the Rodial Skin Tint* a few times. I went for a make over with Rodial in their Selfridges pop up and really liked their Skin Tint base so I’m super happy that they’ve sent it to me to play about with more. It’s very lightweight – in the photo below I was just coming out of an awful rosacea flare up and dreading putting anything on my skin but I couldn’t even tell I was wearing anything. DREAMY. You can still see freckles, moles, a bit of redness, but it just looks like skin which I know a lot of you are looking for. Yep, it’s pricey but Rodial were first and foremost a skincare brand, so this is a make up/skincare hybrid which will always bump up the price.

I’d say it’s low-medium coverage and although it’s very buildable, it’s never going to be high coverage enough to cover all my redness. I’ve been enjoying using it all over my face and then spot correcting with concealer. I’m going to do a YouTube video about it soon so keep your eyes peeled HERE.

Friday Faves - a great smelling body scrub

I love a good body scrub and this one smells good enough to eat (please don’t eat it). There are a lot of these coffee grains scrubs around and I’ve been a little wary of trying them as they look so messy. I can  confirm that the grains do get all over your shower/bath but they rinse off really easily and they leave your skin feeling soft and pampered. The range of Optiat Feel Great Coffee Scrubs all sound lovely, but Mouthwatering Mandarin* is so fresh but also oddly Christmassy (too soon?)

Friday Faves Sephora Collection V for Volume blue mascara

On my previous French trip I picked up the pink version of the Sephora V for Volume mascara and loved it, so on my recent trip I picked up three more shades. The bright blue mascara shown in that selfie above shows one of them in action and I’m in LOVE. I can’t wait to show you the others colours…

Friday Faves: Simply Pure Water Leave On Mask

If you are looking for unbelievably affordable skincare available on the highstreet then I have a very exciting launch for you: the Superdrug Simply Pure Leave On Water Mask* is not only £3.99 but is also a pleasure to use. Its jelly-like lightweight formula, cooling sensation, and soothing effect on the skin mean that it’s a definite winner for those of us with reactive skin.

And finally, my current read is The Yellow Wallpaper and Selected Writings by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. It’s a collection of short stories and I am racing through it. The first story – The Yellow Wallpaper – was written in 1892 and takes inspiration from the author’s own experiences of mental health issues and potentially PND. It feels like a gothic ghost story and is just so well written. I would definitely recommend it if you’re interested in reading a little bit of early American feminist literature with a spooky twist!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s Friday Faves. As always, I’d love to hear your recommendations: books, films, TV, make up, hair products, places, people… you name it, I want to hear about it! The comments are open below, or alternatively I can always be found on pretty much every social network… Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest. You can also take a look at my previous Friday Faves HERE, if you fancy!
