FRIDAY FAVES: Puberty, Phoebe, & Pretty Hair Tools

This week’s Friday Faves are a perfect mixture of beauty and media bits and pieces… I’ve discovered some wonderful music, TV, and podcasts so if you’re looking for an excuse to sit on the sofa in your pyjamas then this is the post for you!

Friday Faves: TV, podcasts, music, and the prettiest hair tool ever made!

Don’t forget to let me know your Friday Faves in the comments below, you know how I like to be enabled! Films, make up, haircare, books, TV… anything you’re loving, I want to hear about it!

Lee Stafford Rainbow Hair Wand - the prettiest hair tool ever?

It’s hard to make hair appliances attractive, but somehow Lee Stafford have managed it. I’ve been trying out the Lee Stafford Rainbow Shine Wand* for a few weeks and immediately knew it had to go into my Friday Faves. It is really easy to use (I much prefer wands over tongs as that clampy bits always catches and burns me!), comes with a heat-resistant glove, and gives the most beautiful tousled waves. Plus just LOOK at how pretty it is! I’m still learning how to get the most from it, but I think the early attempts look pretty good…

If you’re a fan of dirty humour and surreal comedy then the new Netflix animated show Big Mouth will be right up your street. It has tons of famous names involved and had me and my husband giggling and cringing in equal amounts. It’s all about puberty and is hilarious, relatable, and horrifying! I’ve put the trailer below so you can see if its’ your type of thing…

I think I’ve recommended the Criminal podcast in my Friday Faves before: it’s a very well researched and put-together podcast that covers a wide range of topics, so if you’re not a fan of the more ‘murder-y’ genre then I think you’ll like this one!) This particular episode is brilliant as it touches on something I’m always torn on: why do we love hearing about crime so much? Even if you’re not particularly interested in the genre, his interview with Marilyn Stasio (who has written the ‘Crime Column’ in the New York Times Book Review for nearly 30 years) is fascinating. She talks about her book selection process, how many she reads in a year, and her experiences in the literary world. Listen to it by clicking below.

To continue in the media recommendations theme, I have two album/artist recommendations. Wolf Alice have a new album which is just incredible (‘Yuk Foo’ is my current dancing-around-my-bedroom-in-my-pants song!) But since discovering Phoebe Bridgers I’ve just been completely obsessed: her voice, the lyrics, the music… it’s just all perfect. Both are linked below for your listening pleasure.

And that’s it for this week’s Friday Faves. I hope you’re found some new favourites of your own, don’t forget to let me know in the comments below as well as telling me what you’re loving at the moment. I love to get recommendations from you lovely lot, so go wild!

Have a wonderful weekend!
