FRIDAY FAVES: Beauty and Brilliant TV

TV, murder, skincare, and make up in one post? It must be Friday Faves time!

Let’s jump right in to Friday Faves because I’m seriously excited about my recommendations this week. There are some GEMS!

Mindhunter – Wait… a new Netflix series based on the history of the FBI and criminal profiling of serial killers? Directed by David Fincher? Have I died and gone to creepy, morbid heaven? Probably. If you’re interested in serial killers, psychology, and gritty crime dramas then this is so far up your street (also let’s become best friends). The soundtrack is also flipping great, as are the outfits of Wendy (the psychologist). BRB – buying turtlenecks, box pleat skirts, and a trench coat.

Another new TV recommendation is Scandal. I finished season 5 of Nashville (the last season available on Now TV) and needed something trashy and easy to watch to fill that gap. Scandal has always come up in recommendations so I thought I’d give it a go. Bad news: it’s not quite trashy enough. Good news: I’ve now started watching it with Aaron as it’s a genuinely good TV show. But please do let me know *actual* trashy programme recommendations: Nashville, Gossip Girl, Gilmore Girls, The OC, Glee… think that kind of genre. I don’t want to have to pay attention or engage my brain!

I am a big fan of hand cream, which is quite a boring topic… I know this. Hand cream is one of those things that I feel is a very standard product and should be simple, but so many brands get it wrong! So I love to find ones that really get the job done. The Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Concentrated Hand Cream* not only gets my seal of approval, but it also gets a (well-moisturised) thumbs up from my husband, who hates using any products that aren’t shampoo or shower gel! It’s a gel that sinks in quickly, isn’t greasy, smells pleasant but not overwhelming, and leaves the hands feeling lovely. PLUS at the moment it’s under £3 from Boots, bargain!

We all know that I’m a sucker for a red lipstick and this one is the perfect blue-based red: Smashbox Always On liquid lipstick in ‘Bawse’*. It’s very long-lasting, comfortable to wear, and is totally opaque in one swipe. Plus the applicator is pointed and firm, which gives a very precise lip line so no messy wobbly lines here. Love!
