I had heard so much about the IT Cosmetics products, both from rosacea groups and ‘regular’ make up lovers. The former were particularly excited as the founder of the brand has rosacea herself, so all the products aim to be gentle but effective. The IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream* is described as a full coverage foundation, but in my opinion it’s medium coverage. It feels very comfortable on the skin, almost like a tinted moisturiser, and has a really pretty, healthy-looking finish. I used this a lot in the summer, when I wanted something to take the edge off my redness but nothing too heavy and ‘made up’. It also contains a broad spectrum mineral sunscreen (although I would still always use a separate sunscreen as well). Unfortunately, it does contain citrus oil which is a no-no for lots of people with skin sensitivity. This baffles me as it’s so often lauded as a product made for those with reactive skin, and rosacea specifically. It’s important to note that I have never had a reaction while using this product – and I’ve used it a lot – but I wanted to let you know just in case.
The IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness Correcting Cream* is a thick tinted product with a cream-to-powder finish. It’s designed to be a colour-correcting primer to go underneath foundation… but, as you can see, I think the coverage is good enough that you wouldn’t need another layer. In the video I say that I would want a lighter shade as this is a little dark for me but from looking online I think this is the only shade, which is a shame (EDIT: according to a lovely keen-eyed reader, there are apparently more shades available in the US. Hopefully these will come over to the UK soon). I’m not keen on the pot it comes in: it makes application a bit of a faff, plus it’s also worth noting that the antioxidant ingredients in this product will become unstable with every use because of the exposure to air. But all things considered, I really like the coverage and finish of this product so if I can mix it with a lightening product I think this will be a great go-to product when I have a bit more time and want to cover more intense redness.
