I was so intrigued when I saw these Matte Suede polishes. Textured finishes are going to continue to be big this year and this polish has definitely converted me to matte/textured finishes. The finish falls somewhere between a matte topcoat effect and the new liquid sand polishes.

As it is a matte finish nail varnish, these swatches are obviously shown without top coat. I like this effect but it was tricky to get a smooth finish, as the polish starts to turn matte very quickly so has a tendency to drag and go bumpy. You have to be quick and precise to avoid an annoying cleanup, which may put off some people.

What do you guys think of the matte suede finishes? Or textured finishes in general? Let me know in the comments!

I can’t find the Revlon Matte Suede collection anywhere online (except Amazon…) but you can find the current Revlon range HERE.

Barry M Raspberry Nail Varnish

Have I mentioned that I love my light box? I just can’t get over it. It makes me so happy! Look how lovely and bright the pictures are! *claps hands*

I make no secret of my absolute love for Barry M nail varnishes and this one has just rocketed into my all time favourites. It is a dark berry red with an amazing shine even without top coat. It applied like a dream and had full coverage in two coats. I think it would be really flattering on all skin tones as well. Perfect.

I was very excited to try this polish as it’s a new finish called ‘sorbet’. OPI brought this out in the Texas Collection last year and I have been so intrigued. Sorbets are slightly sheer polishes that dry to a really high shine. This is a sumptuous berry-fuschia that is so flattering.

This took 4 coats to achieve this opacity and this is no top coat so you can see just how beautifully shiny it is. The VNL does bother me, but that’s probably more noticeable because my nails are so long, with shorter nails you probably wouldn’t even see it.

If you want to see some other polishes from the OPI Texas collection, I’ve reviewed Do You Think I’m Tex-y HERE, It’s Totally Fort Worth It HERE, and Y’All Come Back Ya Hear?’ HERE.

I can’t find this polish for sale online anymore, but you can see all of the beautiful OPI nail varnish ranges HERE.
