How Do I Look? Sophie on Trichotillomania (hair pulling disorder)

Today’s interview is with Sophie, talking about her trichotillomania. Until I spoke to Sophie I had very little knowledge on this condition so I’m really pleased that I could chat to her and educate myself.

In case you’re new to my blog, I typically talk about my own skin condition (rosacea) but started this How Do I Look? series last year so that I could talk to others in the skin positivity community. I wanted to amplify voices, educate myself and others, and show the many faces of skin positivity. I hope you find these interviews as interesting as I do. There are links to all the previous interviews at the bottom of this page.

6 Easy Changes To Help Your Rosacea Today

Rosacea is a complicated beast: we’re still not sure what causes it, there’s still no cure, and everyone has different triggers. There are so many people out there willing to sell you courses or products to ‘heal’ or ‘cure’ your skin condition, but I wanted to go back to basics. I’ve put together an edit of 6 quick, easy and mostly free things that you can do today to help your rosacea.

6 easy ways to help your rosacea. Easy and (mostly) free things you can change to soothe your rosacea. Rosacea tips, rosacea advice. Skincare for sensitive skin, lifestyle changes for rosacea. How Do I Look? P On Their Acne Conglobata

I’m so excited to kick off 2020 with this incredible interview. I’ve been a huge fan of P for their incredible work on Instagram: not only do they raise awareness of acne and help their followers feel more seen and accepted, but they write so beautifully and in such a raw way that it’s a pleasure to follow.

If you’re new to my How Do I Look? series – welcome! I have rosacea and have been blogging about it for over 6 years, but last year I decided that I should use this platform to show the many faces of skin positivity. So far I’ve spoken to people with vitiligo, psoriasis, scars, eczema, hair loss, birthmarks and more (links at the bottom of this post for each of them) and I want to keep going. Each interview teaches me something, makes me feel less alone, and shows me that although we may look different, we all have similar experiences.

I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did.

Good Person = Good Skin? The Morality Of Skin

I have been drafting a version of this blog post for a long time, but yesterday a post on Instagram sent me over the edge and showed me just how much this conversation is needed. There is an insidious belief in our society that good skin somehow represents being a good person, or good choices in life. Obviously, anyone with a brain can see that this is nonsense, but I wanted to talk about the moral halo surrounding skin for those who may be perpetuating this myth without thinking.

Why good skin doesn't make you a good person (and vice versa!) Skin positivity, body positivity, and why we need to be a little bit kinder. Skincare blogger and rosacea activity, Talonted Lex shares her thoughts on the bizarre belief that good deeds are rewarded with good skin. #talontedlex #goodskin #skinpositive #skinblogger #rosaceaadvice
