FRIDAY FAVES: Edinburgh, Eyeliner and Emotions

This week has flown by – I’ve only been in London for 3 days and I actually took last weekend off which is very unlike me! It was lovely to have a break from work, but it also meant that I had to fit a week’s worth of work into 3 days… not ideal! Anyway, are you ready for Friday Faves? Don’t forget to leave your recommendations in the comments – I love hearing what you’ve been watching, reading, listening to, trying out and eating!

Friday Faves: This Cry Baby mug sums me up so well!

GOOD WEEK: I woke up on Monday morning to so many excited tweets telling me that I was shortlisted for Beauty Blogger of the Year in the Blogosphere Blog Awards which is bonkers and it’s still sinking in! If you would like to, you can vote for me HERE (please do, I’m up against some really big bloggers so I need all the help I can get!)

BAD WEEK: I had an irritation from using a new skincare product and it made my eyes so sore and weepy and my lips really chapped for days. It happened while I was away in Scotland and it made me utterly miserable as I couldn’t really wear my usual make up (matte lipsticks and intense eye make up) without feeling uncomfortable or it smudging all down my face, which made me so self-conscious. Luckily it was really sunny so I just wore enormous sunglasses everywhere we went! My skin seems to be back to normal now which is a relief, I’ll be chatting about the irritation more in my Skincare Shake Up at the end of the month.

At the  weekend my husband and I went to Scotland for 5 days and it was flipping incredible. His parents live on the Isle Of Arran and we went to a wedding there on the Saturday and then from Sunday to Tuesday we stayed in Edinburgh being tourists and bumbling around the city. Highlights were: obviously the wedding, which was beautiful; the amazing gluten and dairy free cake we had in Loudons; the wine tasting we did in Divino Enoteca; our beautiful hotel where the staff made us feel like royalty; incredible Thai food at Ting Thai Caravan (which one of my lovely blog readers recommended!); and finishing off our last night in The Jazz Bar listening to a Big Band. Just a ridiculously fun and full long weekend.

A new favourite is my Tear mug from The Cry Baby Club, which my husband got me for my birthday. As some of you may know, I went viral for my crying antics so this is definitely me in mug form! I also have some prints and a pin coming from their site – if you’re a big weeper as well then I cannot recommend their stuff enough. I can already predict my other order from them will feature in a future Friday Faves!

The glo-minerals Jeweled Eye Pencil in ‘Baroque’* is just beautiful. It’s very creamy and subtle, so you can build it up to your desired opacity. I am a sucker for a copper/bronze/warm-toned eye so this is perfect for me. It was lovely and lightweight on my recovering eyes and, because you can wear it quite sheer, it coped well with my watery eyes. It’s sparkly without containing chunky glitter and blends so well. I have a few others shades in my stash so definitely need to try them out. It’s what I’m wearing in the photo below:

What have been your most used of most loved things this week? Let me know your Friday Faves in the comments below. And here’s another little, tiny reminder to vote for me in the Blogosphere Awards, voting is open until the 22nd of May so I’m sorry if you are bored of me talking about it already!
