Today I have some of the exciting new Essie Gel Couture Gala Bolds to show you. The polishes are inspired by the beautiful colours we see on the red carpet and there are some beauties…
There are 12 polishes in the Essie Gel Couture Gala Bolds collection, along with the new Platinum Grade Finish Top Coat. I couldn’t see much difference between the new top coat and the previous Gel Couture top coat: I think both are great at smoothing, plumping and adding a boat-load of shine. I have four of the new colours below, all of which will be joining the permanent Gel Couture range. Don’t forget to let me know your favourite in the comments below!
‘Inside Scoop‘* – This is described as a ‘sheer tea rose pink’ which I would normally be a little wary of because pale pinks can give me spam hands, but this has a blue undertone that makes it a lovely cool pink – much more flattering for my pale skin. This needed three careful coats, but the formula of the Essie Gel Couture polishes are great and layer very well.
‘Style Stunner‘* – Listed as an ‘outré bright orange’, this is by far my favourite from the collection and is the only polish I chose to bring on holiday with me. It is one of those polishes that instantly cheers you up as soon as you apply it. It looks great on my pale skin, but would be so flattering and bright on tanned or darker skin tones. An all round summer classic in a perfect formula! This only needed two thin coats for a fully opaque finish.
‘V.I.Please‘* is described as a ‘deep, berry violet’, but I think it definitely leans more pink than purple. This will be a great shade for autumn as it has that rich, luxurious feel to it. This was another two-coater and was so easy to apply.
‘Front Page Worthy‘* – This is not my kind of polish, but objectively I can admit that it is beautiful. It’s described as a ‘dark royal blue with a pearl overcast’, and I think it’s the pearly, frosted finish that isn’t for me. However, if these kind of finishes are your favourite then this is a great formula, that applies with minimal streaks and dries super quickly. It will need a top coat as, unlike the others in the range, it dries slightly dull.
Have you tried any of the Essie Gel Couture Gala Bolds? If you’ve tried any of the Gel Couture polishes, how do you think they hold up against the regular formula? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
