RosaceaReview Burt’s Bees Sensitive Skin Range

RosaceaReview Burt's Bees Sensitive Skin Range

At the start of July I was sent the Burt’s Bees Sensitive Skin Range. I was pretty excited as I didn’t even know that Burt’s Bees did a range for atypical skin. Burt’s Bees have a great ethos: a history of natural, ethical and high quality products. According to the website, the sensitive skin range has Cotton Extract, which helps “skin replenish its outer layer, shielding it from potential irritants”.

Because of my rosacea, I’m very wary of new products. I always start them on a Friday evening so that I can hide in the house for 2 days if I have a flare up or a reaction. When applying a new product I’m like a coiled spring, waiting for the burning or stinging to start.

So I was very happy to find that this range was not only gentle but was also a pleasure to use.

The English Mineral Makeup Company

Mineral foundation is something that has been on my radar for a while. It’s supposed to be ideal for atypical and sensitive skin as it’s lightweight, non-comedogenic and (apparently) you can even sleep in it which proves the lack of nasties in it. I had tried a L’Oréal Paris True Match minerals powder foundation before and liked the coverage but it contained talc which I think started to aggravate my skin after a while. So when I heard about The English Mineral Makeup Company I was pretty excited.

What is rosacea: skincare and learning to work around rosacea

Last month was Global Rosacea Awareness Month and I wrote a few blogs in this ‘what is rosacea’ series: my diagnosis, the lifestyle changes that help me control and manage my skin, and a very personal blog about why I wear make up. The penultimate and final blogs in the mini-series are possibly the most requested blog for me: the products I use to treat my skin and the make-up I use to cover my rosacea. Here are my tips on skincare and learning to work around rosacea. Warning: this is a long one. Get a cup of (lukewarm) tea and some biscuits and settle down…

What is rosacea: Why I wear make up.

April is Global Awareness Month for rosacea and I’ve been doing some blog posts to share my story and give some advice that I wish I had been given when I was in the early stages. You can read my blog on my diagnosis HERE, read about lifestyle changes I made to manage my flare ups HERE. I have also written about the skincare that helps me to keep everything under control. But first I wanted to talk about why I wear make up, covering the psychological aspects of rosacea and how these form an (often overlooked) part of the disease.
