Why I Hated Benefit They’re Real Mascara

Benefit’s ‘They’re Real’ mascara has been on my want list since it launched and I was so excited when it arrived in the post, which was made even worse by people on Twitter and Instagram raving about it when I posted my sneak peek.

Which is why I think I am so disappointed with it. I have blonde eyelashes and small eyes so mascara is my best friend. I put tons on, at least 3 coats or I feel like I look like a mole.

But ‘They’re Real’ layers like a nightmare. It says on the box that you can layer it to achieve the look you want. They lie. The pictures show two coats and it was clumping and flaking and looked awful. It felt really dry and cheap (which it isn’t at £19.50!!). Strike one.

It’s called ‘They’re Real’ because they’re meant to make your eyelashes look fake. I don’t think they look any different to normal. In fact, I think they are less curled and less separated than when I use my regular (cheaper!) mascaras. Strike two.

It also made my eyes really dry and itchy. I was rubbing them all day, which made the mascara flake even more. It went everywhere, it was dreadful. Three strikes and you’re out!

The packaging is lovely… but that’s about it. That is the only plus to this mascara. I am so disappointed as so many people seem to adore it. My search continues…

Boyfriend Make Up Challenge Video

So I decided to do my first ever YouTube video and what better way to start than to do a boyfriend make up challenge video.

Meet Aaron, my fiancee. Prepare to be amazed at his make up skills… or not.

Kiko Electric Blue 336 Review

*clears throat* Attention everyone! Call off the wedding! Sorry Aaron, but I have a new love and it is called ‘Electric Blue (336)’ – not the best name, I know.

And before anyone says anything, YES this is a blue polish and YES I love it. I KNOW, no one is more surprised than me. Down is up! Left is right! I love a blue nail polish!! In case you’re new to these parts, I don’t do blue nail varnish. I just don’t really get the appeal. Or should I say didn’t. Until now.

I have wanted this polish ever since I heard it was the perfect dupe for Nails Inc’s ‘Baker Street’. Even as a non-blue fan, I still cant resist a good dupe! It is a vibrant, cobalt blue that just seems to glow. This only needed 2 thin coats and was so shiny I almost didn’t top with Seche Vite (but obviously I did – it’s like a compulsion).

Is this polish the turning point in my relationship with blue polish? Would I love Baker Street even more? I am so confused!

You can buy this (and why wouldn’t you?!) HERE.

Soap and Glory Glow All Out

Soap and Glory Glow All Out

Soap and Glory Glow All Out

I have been looking for a highlighter powder for a while but none had caught my eye. Then I saw this gorgeous beast, Soap and Glory Glow All Out, in Boots.

Described as ‘luminizing radiance face powder’, this is a light rose pink colour with a lovely golden shimmer. It also comes in a really cute compact that you wouldn’t feel embarrassed getting out in public to touch up your make up.

The photos show the powder applied after foundation and before blusher. My rosacea was playing up a bit today so I took the second to last photo once it had calmed down to show you the true colour. I feel like this makes me skin glow without looking over the top – no one wants to look like a disco ball at work!

I got this in Boots for £11 which is a bargain as I think it will last ages – you can buy it HERE.
