Models Own Gold Finger Review

Models Own Gold Finger

Models Own Gold Finger

This stunning polish was lying unloved and unopened in my untried pile. What on earth was I thinking? This is so beautiful! This manicure is shown with 3 coats of dense glitter that didn’t need any placement which means it’s a total faff free manicure. The glitter is so shiny and sparkly and has attracted so many comments when I’ve been wearing it.

I think have found a new favourite glitter! If you’re in love with this but wary of glitter removal, I have a video with a really quick and easy removal method. It will change your life (okay, that may be an over exaggeration but it is pretty great! You can watch it HERE)

It looks like Models Own have stopped selling this (WHHHHHYYYYyyyyyy) but you can get it HERE if you just can’t live without this sparkle in your life.

Soap and Glory Glow All Out

Soap and Glory Glow All Out

Soap and Glory Glow All Out

I have been looking for a highlighter powder for a while but none had caught my eye. Then I saw this gorgeous beast, Soap and Glory Glow All Out, in Boots.

Described as ‘luminizing radiance face powder’, this is a light rose pink colour with a lovely golden shimmer. It also comes in a really cute compact that you wouldn’t feel embarrassed getting out in public to touch up your make up.

The photos show the powder applied after foundation and before blusher. My rosacea was playing up a bit today so I took the second to last photo once it had calmed down to show you the true colour. I feel like this makes me skin glow without looking over the top – no one wants to look like a disco ball at work!

I got this in Boots for £11 which is a bargain as I think it will last ages – you can buy it HERE.

Dainty Doll It’s My Party Lipstick

Dainty Doll It's My Party Lipstick

Dainty Doll It’s my Party Lipstick

Dainty Doll is a cosmetics brand started by Nicola Roberts (yes, the one from Girls Aloud). She has red hair with very pale skin and became fed up of trying out cosmetics that didn’t go light enough or suit her colouring. So she made her own brand. Pretty bad ass really!

I didn’t have high hopes for this lipstick, I don’t know why but the Girls Aloud connection put me off a bit…but I was so wrong. This lipstick is GORGEOUS. It is slightly matte so you have to moisturise your lips well with balm beforehand but it means that it is long-lasting. I quite like the semi-matte look, but if you don’t you can pop a bit of gloss over the top.

The lipstick looks like such a bright coral in the tube but applies to be a bit more subtle – it still catches the eye but doesn’t blind you!

2016 update: Dainty Doll as a brand no longer exists, which I think is sad as there aren’t many cosmetics brands who focus solely on very pale skin tones. Perhaps it will reappear in future.

Lac Attack Dementor’s Kiss

Lac Attack Dementor’s Kiss

My Lac Attack polishes arrived today and it was so hard to decide which to swatch first. I really love white, black and red as a colour combination so I picked Lac Attack Dementor’s Kiss.

This is a clear-based polish with multi-sized black hex glitter and large red hex glitter. Swoon!

These pictures show one coat of ‘Dementor’s Kiss’ over one coat of OPI’s ‘Skull and Glossbones’, with a top coat of Seche Vite. I am so impressed by the glitter and application. It almost reminds me of lace from far away.

I am so glad I got these polishes, I am seriously thrilled with them!

You can find Lac Attack nail polishes on Harlow&Co HERE.

Revlon Matte Suede Ruby Ribbon

Revlon Matte Suede Ruby Ribbon

Revlon Matte Suede Ruby Ribbon

I was so intrigued when I saw these Matte Suede polishes. Textured finishes are going to continue to be big this year and this polish has definitely converted me to matte/textured finishes. The finish falls somewhere between a matte topcoat effect and the new liquid sand polishes.

As it is a matte finish nail varnish, these swatches are obviously shown without top coat. I like this effect but it was tricky to get a smooth finish, as the polish starts to turn matte very quickly so has a tendency to drag and go bumpy. You have to be quick and precise to avoid an annoying cleanup, which may put off some people.

What do you guys think of the matte suede finishes? Or textured finishes in general? Let me know in the comments!

I can’t find the Revlon Matte Suede collection anywhere online (except Amazon…) but you can find the current Revlon range HERE.
