It’s time to continue my Flawless Base series, and in today’s post we’re really getting down to the nitty-gritty: foundations and application methods (plus some cleaning tips). This is the post I’ve most looked forward to in this series, as foundation is the make up item that is truly transformative for me due to my rosacea. After I put on my foundation, I feel happier and more like myself as it takes me to the base point from which everyone else is starting.
Whenever I talk about my rosacea on social media I am guaranteed to get questions about make up. I post photos of my bare face (like this one) next to photos of me in full make up (like this one) and people sometimes can’t marry the two in their minds. So I wanted to share my tips for a flawless base even when you have a far-from-flawless face!
If you follow my blog you will know that I am a huge fan of full coverage make up. My rosacea redness makes me very self-conscious and I feel more like myself when I know I can apply a full face of make up. But I know that not everyone can (or wants to) wear a lot of make up. So I have pulled together the products that would work as a rosacea cover ups for men and those who prefer a lighter look.
Mineral foundation is something that has been on my radar for a while. It’s supposed to be ideal for atypical and sensitive skin as it’s lightweight, non-comedogenic and (apparently) you can even sleep in it which proves the lack of nasties in it. I had tried a L’Oréal Paris True Match minerals powder foundation before and liked the coverage but it contained talc which I think started to aggravate my skin after a while. So when I heard about The English Mineral Makeup Company I was pretty excited.
