I feel quite proud of myself when I manage to finish a product. I have so many products on the go that it’s a small miracle that I ever finish anything! Some of these have been waiting for a mini review for a while but let’s dive into the empty product bag and see what I thought.
This is my first empties post. Empties posts are quite controversial in the bloggersphere: some hate them and see them as pointless and gross. I, on the other hand, find them fascinating. They are mini-reviews in the themselves plus, when you consider how many products us beautyphiles use, it’s pretty amazing to actually finish products!
I’m not going to lie when I first contemplated the 5 Product Face Challenge it filled me with fear. I usually have an 8 or 9 (or 10 – 15…) product face so this was always going to be tough. Luckily I was working at home today so my panic was quite short-lived!
So, in order, my 5 product face is as follows:
Rimmel ‘Lasting Finish’ foundation. Base was my obvious first choice as, due to my rosacea, I would never ever consider a make up look without foundation.
Collection ‘Lasting Perfection’ concealer. My under eye bags are dreadful and I think concealer under your eyes is one of the easiest way to brighten your whole face.
Soap & Glory ‘Archery’ eyebrow pencil. As a blonde with very fair eyebrows I *needed* brow products!
Sleek ‘Sweet Cheeks’ blush palette (I used ‘Cupcake’). After covering my rosacea redness, I needed something to put some life back into my cheeks.
Rimmel ‘Scandaleyes’ mascara. Again, blonde hair is a curse!
I don’t think this look is too bad for 5 products, but I definitely won’t be making the 5 product face a regular thing. I doubt this would last long without my primer and powder and I miss eyeshadow and lipstick!
What would you choose for your 5 product face?
(This was for the #supergorgeoussept challenge on instagram. If you want to see my other pictures or are doing it as well, come say hi – my name is talontedlex on instagram 🙂
I have been looking for a highlighter powder for a while but none had caught my eye. Then I saw this gorgeous beast, Soap and Glory Glow All Out, in Boots.
Described as ‘luminizing radiance face powder’, this is a light rose pink colour with a lovely golden shimmer. It also comes in a really cute compact that you wouldn’t feel embarrassed getting out in public to touch up your make up.
The photos show the powder applied after foundation and before blusher. My rosacea was playing up a bit today so I took the second to last photo once it had calmed down to show you the true colour. I feel like this makes me skin glow without looking over the top – no one wants to look like a disco ball at work!
I got this in Boots for £11 which is a bargain as I think it will last ages – you can buy it HERE.
I love Soap & Glory as a brand (their Breakfast Scrub will change your life, no hyperbole) but I had never tried their make up. And now I seriously feel like I’ve been missing out.
Archery is a double-ended eyebrow shaper. One end has a fine ink brush that you use for filling in brows and giving them a bit of colour, while the other end is a waxy pencil that tames brows and gives them a more dramatic colour change. On most days I just use the pen as it’s more subtle for work and I am thrilled with it. It looks natural and doesn’t budge all day. I got ‘Love Is Blonde’ which is a great match for me.
One Heck Of A Blot is a mattifying powder, which is apparently one powder for all skin tones. I apply it in the morning after I’ve applied all my other make up and – miraculously – my face is still intact at the end of the day. I reapply at lunch time if I need to, but on the whole it keeps me matte all day.
