Body moisturiser feels like one of those basic beauty items that most people don’t give a second thought to. Does it moisturise my skin? Does it smell nice? Done. But if you have sensitive skin, or a specific skin condition, you quickly learn that you need to be much more discerning! Introducing Dermalex Repair & Restore ultra hydrating daily moisturiser.

You may be familiar with the Dermalex brand, especially if you are a regular reader of my blog as I recently reviewed the Dermalex Rosacea product. I have a lot of trust in the brand and so I was keen to try the Dermalex Repair & Restore body moisturiser.
Although my rosacea only affects the skin on my face, I also have incredibly sensitive skin all over my body which can make it very tricky to find products which work for me. For years I chose my body moisturisers based solely on the scent, without realising that fragrance is often one of the most irritating ingredients for me. For as long as I can remember I’ve had chicken skin (keratosis pilaris) on my arms and thighs. It made me very self-conscious and I often picked outfits based on how much of the affected area it covered. I tried harsh scrubs, I tried emollients, I tried doing nothing, I tried dry brushing, I tried so many different moisturisers… but the only real changes I’ve seen to my skin have come from removing products with irritating ingredients. Which is where the Dermalex Repair & Restore comes in!
WHY IS DERMALEX REPAIR & RESTORE DIFFERENT?
I was excited to try this moisturiser because it is fragrance-free, steroid-free, and colourant-free but I was a little worried because sometimes you have to choose between ‘good for your skin’ and ‘pleasant to use’… I’m happy to say this was not the case. It has a dual approach to moisturising the skin: locking in moisture, and then over time the patented ‘barrier shield recovery complex’ helps to rehydrate the underlying skin cells and works to strengthen the skin barrier. So, as you’re treating the immediate issue, you’re also helping your skin to become stronger.
Dermalex Repair & Restore is backed up by over 20 years of research and over 20 scientific publications, which makes trusting them with my sensitive skin a lot easier – there are so many products on the market that promise the world but knowing that Dermalex have a solid background of research and proven results really allayed any concerns I might have had about trying the product.
WHAT IS DERMALEX REPAIR & RESTORE LIKE TO USE?
It’s a really light cream, so it glides onto the skin (which is great for sensitive skin as you don’t want to be rubbing any more than you have to). It sinks in really quickly so there’s no sticking to your bedding or clothes. There is a very faint medicinal scent upon application, but it does not linger on the skin, and if the choice is between a strong pretty fragrance that my skin will hate, or a subtle medicinal smell from a product that won’t annoy my skin I know which one I prefer!
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I USE DERMALEX REPAIR & RESTORE?
I’ve been using it as my daily moisturiser, and if you have mild/moderate eczema it’s recommended as a daily emollient to be used between flare ups to help prevent the return of your eczema. In fact, it’s clinically proven to increase eczema-free days by up to 50% which is incredible.
I spent a day filming with some other wonderful women who have been trialing Dermalex Repair & Restore and it was so interesting to hear their stories. Obviously, I look at the product from someone who is very sensitive to ingredients, but they had a lot of stories about both adult and childhood eczema which you may find useful. You can see a short video below where we chat about why having healthy skin gives us confidence and what we love about the product.
