How Do I Look? Rose On Her Rosacea

When I started the ‘How Do I Look?’ series, it was because I had seen how powerful it can be to find someone else who has shared your experience, someone who looks like you, someone who feels like you. When I found others with rosacea online, I was so happy: I felt understood and supported in a way I hadn’t before. And I wanted to help make those connections for other people. Being involved in the skin positivity community online, I have been introduced to so many incredible people doing amazing work. People with conditions I know nothing about but wanted to: psoriasis, vitiligo, trichotillomania, eczema, scars, acne conglobata… So this blog series was born: interviews with all sorts of people who are all using their spaces online to spread information, love, and support. As April is Rosacea Awareness Month, I’m focusing all my interviews this month on ROSACEA.

Today’s interview is with the wonderful Rose Gallagher: make up artist, Heads Up champ, and fellow rosacea sufferer. We first met a year ago, when we were both guests on the Sali Hughes Soho Radio show, talking about rosacea, and I’ve been in love with her ever since. Rose talks to me about her diagnosis, her love of make up, and why developing rosacea has changed her life in a positive way.

How Do I Look? Cæcilie On Her Rosacea

For the month of April – to celebrate Rosacea Awareness Month – I will be dedicating all of my How Do I Look? interviews to rosacea. So far I’ve covered acne, psoriasis, vitiligo, eczema, trichotillomania, hair loss, port wine stains, and scars – I’ve put links at the bottom of this post if you’re interested in the past interviews.

Cæcilie Johansen is a medical doctor and PhD student in dermatology, educating on skin health, skin disorders and skincare that helps to support and maintain healthy skin. She is so knowledgeable but also accessible which makes her a great person to follow for rosacea advice. I hope you enjoy this interview.

How Do I Look? Kali On Her Acne

I can’t remember how I discovered Kali on Instagram, but she is such a joy in my timeline. Whether she’s talking about her acne and giving advice to her followers, showcasing amazing make up looks, or dancing with her adorable dogs, I love everything she posts.

As soon as I started doing my How Do I Look? series I knew I wanted to interview Kali, because she has such a positive and open attitude. I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did.

How Do I Look? Sophie on Trichotillomania (hair pulling disorder)

Today’s interview is with Sophie, talking about her trichotillomania. Until I spoke to Sophie I had very little knowledge on this condition so I’m really pleased that I could chat to her and educate myself.

In case you’re new to my blog, I typically talk about my own skin condition (rosacea) but started this How Do I Look? series last year so that I could talk to others in the skin positivity community. I wanted to amplify voices, educate myself and others, and show the many faces of skin positivity. I hope you find these interviews as interesting as I do. There are links to all the previous interviews at the bottom of this page.

How Do I Look? P On Their Acne Conglobata

I’m so excited to kick off 2020 with this incredible interview. I’ve been a huge fan of P for their incredible work on Instagram: not only do they raise awareness of acne and help their followers feel more seen and accepted, but they write so beautifully and in such a raw way that it’s a pleasure to follow.

If you’re new to my How Do I Look? series – welcome! I have rosacea and have been blogging about it for over 6 years, but last year I decided that I should use this platform to show the many faces of skin positivity. So far I’ve spoken to people with vitiligo, psoriasis, scars, eczema, hair loss, birthmarks and more (links at the bottom of this post for each of them) and I want to keep going. Each interview teaches me something, makes me feel less alone, and shows me that although we may look different, we all have similar experiences.

I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did.
