Models Own Banana Split Review

Hands up. I admit it. I am a sucker for a gimmick. I am also a sucker for pastels. So when I heard that Models Own were doing a pastels collection of nail varnishes that were scented I was all over it. Like spots on a dalmation.

‘Banana Split’ is a baby yellow creme polish that isn’t as opaque as it looks. I really wish I had done a white undies layer because this needed 3 generous coats. But it all smoothed out and dried fine with Seche Vite on top (although there’s a slight gathering of polish at the tips of the nail which is annoying me…)

This polish didn’t smell like real bananas – even BETTER – it smelt like the foam penny sweetie bananas! Mmmm…I was craving pick ‘n’ mix every time I smelt my nails!

I actually realised after posting this that I already own a Models Own pastel yellow (lemon meringue) which is IDENTICAL to this but doesn’t smell of bananas so obviously I had to have both. I have a serious problem.

Has anyone tried any of the other polishes in this collection? I bet the ‘Apple Pie’ one is incredible… You can buy this polish HERE, but I warn you: you will get a lot of weird looks from people wondering why you’re sniffing your nails!

Model’s Own ‘Utopia’

Can we take a moment to appreciate just how beautiful Model’s Own ‘Utopia’ is? MY GOD. I originally bought this polish when Model’s Own were having their amazing sale months ago (you need to watch out for those as you can get some serious bargains) and I am really regretting not trying out this polish until now. It is so incredibly beautiful and I have wasted so much time when I could have been wearing it. *kicks self*

This is a soft, pale lilac-grey creme polish. It only needed two coats and this is topped with Seche Vite.

Jan 2016 EDIT: I have just found out from Model’s Own that this shade is now discontinued *wails*. So gutted. This is such an incredible shade and became one of my ;go-to’ colours when I couldnt decide what to wear. It went with everything and just looked really classy and chic on the nails. LUCKILY it reminds me a lot of OPI’s ‘Steady As She Rose‘, which is still available. PHEW.

Ice Cream Nail Art Manicure

What has been cheering me up this week? This Ice Cream Nail Art Manicure. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Ice Cream Nail Art Manicure

When I was thinking about what nail art to do, I decided on pretty, pastel ice creams to match the lovely weather we’ve been having in London. I have wanted to do these for ages, but they don’t really work on squoval nails. These rounded nails are so much fun, I wish I’d changed them up ages ago!

I used a few different Seventeen nail varnishes in this manicure for the pastels, and used a Barry M shade for the brown cone colour.

What do you think to this super sweet manicure?

I had such an overwhelming response to my recent gradients blogs posts and I had a lot of questions asking how I do them, so I decided to do a little tutorial for you.

These were done using Seventeen Lasting Fix polishes in ‘Woo Me’ (lilac) and ‘Fairy Cake’ (baby pink). I love doing gradients, they are so fun. You can treat yourself to some Seventeen nail polishes HERE.

Plus, I am LOVING my new shape. My nails are making me so happy at the moment (I am sad, I know. Don’t mock me).

I did a tutorial for a gradient nail art manicure, which you can find HERE.
