I received this lovely looking polish at the Debenhams SS15 beauty event last week and was so excited to use it. I love Nails Inc polishes and had heard good things about their Gel Effect range. So I thought I’d do a little bit of gold leaf nail art!
This shade is ‘Uptown’ – a beautiful dusty pink creme polish. After the colour, the second thing to jump out at my was the size of the bottle. It’s a huge rectangular bottle with a large lid. The lid is actually a cap, hiding the smaller, screwed on lid (which makes the brush a lot easier to hold and control). The bottle is heavy and feels very luxurious and expensive.
The formula is designed to be gel-like in its finish and appearance. Mine was very gloopy which made it a bit hard to work with but I’m going to use some nail varnish thinner and try it again as I’m not convinced that it’s supposed to be like that.
I got some gold leaf from Amazon and (very carefully) broke a section into irregular small pieces. I then put a layer of Seche Vite on, and placed the gold leaf using tweezers, doing one nail at a time. I finished with another layer of top coat. I really love the way this gold leaf nail art looks. I definitely want to try it with a turquoise polish next time, I think that will look beautiful against the gold leaf.
You can buy this beautiful polish HERE It looks as though this has been discontinued which is such a shame. I will keep an eye out to see if it makes a comeback or if they release a similar shade.
Let me know what you thought of the Nails Inc Gel Effect polishes, I’d love to know if it’s just my bottle that’s gloopy!
