February has been a bit of a strange month. I’ve not really bought many new products so I’ve been rediscovering some old favourites so this favourites instalment is a bit of a mixture. I hope you enjoy having a nosey into my most loved products from the past month…
Monthly Beauty and Lifestyle Favourites February ’16
Unless you were living under a rock you will have noticed that this month included Valentine’s Day. My husband and I went to Amsterdam for a long weekend as a birthday/Valentine’s treat and it was INCREDIBLE (separate blog post coming soon on that!) and this is the card that I bought Aaron. Isn’t it adorable? He loves Star Wars and as soon as I saw this I knew he’d love it. I know the illustrator through Twitter and she is so talented. You can see Peatree Bojangles’ work HERE.
If you haven’t seen my first impressions video of the Vichy Dermablend foundation* you can watch it HERE. Basically, I bloody love it. Super high coverage, lightweight and lasts alllllll day. Love love love. You can buy it HERE.
I am still loving the Melt Crowd wax melts (although I’ve temporarily cancelled my subscription box to give me a chance to use all of the ones I already have!), they really do fill the whole flat with delicious scents and the membership is such a bargain. You can see my full review of the box HERE.
I can tell that the GOSH Lumi Drops* are going to be a make up bag staple from now until autumn. I just keep reaching for this little bottle of glow-y goodness! It gives a really pretty shimmer to the cheeks without looking overdone or greasy.
If I had to choose one highstreet lipstick brand, I think it would be L’Oréal Paris. They are affordable, the mattes are long-lasting and the colour range is great. The smell is…not great, but I can overlook that. Their Collection Exclusive ranges are brilliant: they design lipsticks based on their spokesmodels so that you can find your perfect nude/pink/red by matching your skin tone, hair and eye colour etc. (although, I must say the options for fair skin tones and blue eyes are a lot more extensive than those for darker skin tones…) This is the L’Oréal Paris Collection Exclusive Naomi’s Pink (for Naomi Watts). It is a really pretty peachy-pink that really impressed me with its longevity. You can get it HERE.
I’d been looking for an angled contouring make up brush for a while and spotted this one on the Make Up Revolution website and thought I’d give it a go. It was only £3.99 (HERE) so I didn’t have high hopes but I have been using it every single day. It gives you a lot of control over where your contour goes, which is great for giving me the cheekbones I am definitely lacking! It’s called the Make Up Revolution Pro Curve Contour Foundation Brush.
Yes there are two foundations in this favourites post as I just couldn’t pick between them. This is the La Roche-Posay Effaclar BB Blur* and I did a first impressions of this base as well which you can watch HERE. This foundation is more of a mousse texture and is slightly lighter coverage than the Vichy one above (although I’d still say this is full coverage). Love! Love them both!
Only 2 lip products this month and one of them had to be this beautiful Sephora Cream Lip Stain in ’13 Marvellous Mauve’ – a gorgeous cool rose-pinky-nude that has been my go to shade when I can’t decide what to wear. I took it to Amsterdam and it was the perfect lip product for daytime wandering and eating (a LOT of eating). You can get it HERE.
My last favourite for this month is a bit of an odd one… I bought a few packs of these nail polish swatch sticks so that I could swatch all of my nail varnishes. I thought that it would come in really useful when I’m reviewing new nail varnish ranges so I could say ‘this is lighter than xx polish, and a bit darker than xx polish’. Is that something that you’d find useful in nail varnish reviews? I also think it’d be good for my friends who want manicures or to borrow a polish – my friend Rebecca (who blogs at the amazing Runaway Kiwi) referred to me as a ‘nail varnish library’ the other day so I thought I’d just get serious about that role! I’m currently about 2/3 of the way through my collection so it’s taking a while, but I’m finding it so relaxing and I’m also remembering a lot of polishes I have been neglecting. If you like the idea of having your polishes swatched, you can buy these sticks HERE.
Are any of my monthly beauty and lifestyle favourites of February ’16 calling to you? What are your favourite bits this month? I am so nosey so let me know in the comments or on any social network you can think of – all my links are in the top right corner!
