When Did Confidence Become A Dirty Word?

I’ve not spent very much time around children since I was one myself. A few of my friends have had children of their own, but the only child I’ve spent a lot of time with is my niece who is five. She’s intelligent, hilarious, fascinating, stubborn, and absolutely beautiful. At the weekend I was braiding her hair and noticed how shiny and healthy it was (no bleach or hair straightener damage in sight!), how smooth her skin was, I took in her slightly-oversized ears, her gangly limbs (she’s going to end up being at least 5 inches taller than me), her gummy smile, her ridiculously long eyelashes and I was just marvelling at her. She’s so new and unaware of it all. We tell children every day that they’re beautiful and incredible and wonderful, that they’re strong and clever, brave, funny and special. But what happens between then and now?

When did confidence become a dirty word? My thoughts on self-belief, childhood, and how we lose that confidence as adults... Read more on the blog!

Tips For A Flawless Base: Foundation And Application Methods

It’s time to continue my Flawless Base series, and in today’s post we’re really getting down to the nitty-gritty: foundations and application methods (plus some cleaning tips). This is the post I’ve most looked forward to in this series, as foundation is the make up item that is truly transformative for me due to my rosacea. After I put on my foundation, I feel happier and more like myself as it takes me to the base point from which everyone else is starting.

My tips for how to achieve a flawless base: all my favourite foundations and application methods (all suitable for sensitive, rosacea skin)

In My Skin: Talking Rosacea On The Radio

A couple of months ago I was approached by BBC5 Live to ask if I wanted to take part in their In My Skin series: they were focusing on skin conditions and the impact these can have on people. I recorded a short video with them and then last week I went on the radio to chat further about my rosacea.

Tips For A Flawless Base: Colour Correcting

I talk about rosacea a lot on the blog and I cover skincare, diet, lifestyle, stress and everything else that can affect my skin. I try to give as much advice as I can but for a lot of people, these long term solutions are helpful but they also want short-term help. I get at least one question about covering rosacea with make up every day, as so many people just want to be able to go about their day with a little bit more confidence. So I’ve put together my tips for a flawless base. I’d recommend starting with the other posts in the series – chatting about primers and foundation – but today we’re talking about colour correcting.
