A few weeks ago, I went to Paris for a long weekend with Aaron as we had some free Eurostar tickets (after last year’s Eurostar broke down for 5 hours!). We had such an amazing time as always. Paris is one of my favourite places: the style, the food, the buildings, the atmosphere. Just everything!

We both took a ton of photos so I apologise in advance – this is the cut down version of the blog I wanted to write!

On the first day we went to Montmartre for sightseeing, wine and wandering through the art market.

On the Saturday we were up and out early to do some more sightseeing. I love how elegant and pretty the metro entrances are, especially compared to London’s underground ones!

Last year when we went to Paris we visited the Pont Des Arts: in case you haven’t heard of it, it’s a beautiful bridge where people attach padlocks to the wiring of the bridge. There are similar bridges all over the world, but with Paris being the city of love this is the most well-known.

We put a padlock on it last year and decided to go see if it was still there. I was so nervous as I knew I’d be really upset if it had gone (the council remove them in waves as they damage the bridge, but they are soon replaced with more!)

It was still there!! Eeee! We had City and Colour lyrics engraved on it as that is our song 🙂 (sorry, there should have been a soppy warning in this post!)image

This picture shows how tightly they’re all packed in! This bridge makes me so happy, every single lock represents people who are in love and it’s pretty overwhelming when you see them all together. There must be over 30 panels on the bridge and each one is crammed with little love declarations. It is beautiful.

Then we went to the best bookshop in the entire world: Shakespeare & Co. I could live here. There are two little cubby holes upstairs where people leave notes: love notes to others, love notes to Paris, secrets…

On Sunday we did a bit more sightseeing before we had to return to London. Starting with the Pompidou Centre, as I missed the Lichtenstein exhibition when it came to London.

They are mini-reviews in the themselves plus, when you consider how many products us beautyphiles use, it’s pretty amazing to actually finish products!

5 Product Face Challenge

I’m not going to lie when I first contemplated the 5 Product Face Challenge it filled me with fear. I usually have an 8 or 9 (or 10 – 15…) product face so this was always going to be tough. Luckily I was working at home today so my panic was quite short-lived!

So, in order, my 5 product face is as follows:

  • Rimmel ‘Lasting Finish’ foundation.  Base was my obvious first choice as, due to my rosacea, I would never ever consider a make up look without foundation.
  • Collection ‘Lasting Perfection’ concealer. My under eye bags are dreadful and I think concealer under your eyes is one of the easiest way to brighten your whole face.
  • Soap & Glory ‘Archery’ eyebrow pencil. As a blonde with very fair eyebrows I *needed* brow products!
  • Sleek ‘Sweet Cheeks’ blush palette (I used ‘Cupcake’). After covering my rosacea redness, I needed something to put some life back into my cheeks.
  • Rimmel ‘Scandaleyes’ mascara. Again, blonde hair is a curse!

I don’t think this look is too bad for 5 products, but I definitely won’t be making the 5 product face a regular thing. I doubt this would last long without my primer and powder and I miss eyeshadow and lipstick!

These aren’t my best gradients but in my defence I was going to do something over the top so they didn’t need to be too perfect. However, I ran out of time and patience with them and decided they would be fine as they were! #nailbloggerproblems

These were done with Barry M pastel nail varnishes and are topped with two coats of Essie ‘Good To Go’ (Still not liking it as much as Seche Vite by the way…)

I’ve done a tutorial here for how to do gradients, this is the same principle but with 4 colours instead of 2.

I might actually update these tomorrow and post some pictures as I’m still not too enamoured with them…

I missed Nail Art Sunday as I was absolutely shattered: I’ve been away at Creamfields (a music festival in the north of England) working so didn’t really get a weekend. But here we are, a day late!

I decided to do a gradient for this week’s nail art as I think gradients are a fairly simple way to make your nails stand out. I used a white base coat by Natural Collection. I find it hard to find a good white nail varnish but this one is pretty opaque and dries really quickly so it’s my go to white at the moment. I then sponged a glittery gold onto my tips: I used Collection ‘Shimmy Shake’.

I went against tradition and used Essie’s ‘Good To Go’ topcoat as my Seche Vite has run out. Now I remember why I never use it! It’s nowhere near as shiny, was really runny and didn’t dry quickly at all. Half an hour after I’d finished my nails I was still able to dent the polish with my nail: not good! I have already re-ordered Seche Vite so I don’t have to be without it. I will never forsake you again!
