Happy Friday you lovely, lovely people! Are you ready for some Friday Faves? I’ve got mainly lifestyle recommendations to share with you this week, including a new podcast, book, and TV series. So don’t say I never treat you! Don’t forget to leave me your recommendations in the comments or come natter to me on Twitter.
GOOD WEEK: This week my mum came to stay with me in London and it was really fun to hang out with her for a few days. We did so much stuff: drinks in The Pagination and dinner at Burger & Lobster in Canary Wharf; shopping on Oxford Street; lunch at Muriel’s Kitchen (on the amazing swings!); and gluten-and-dairy-free ice cream at Yorica! I’m going to visit my parents in France next week, which I’m so excited about, but it was really lovely to spend some one-on-one time with my mum.
BAD WEEK: A member of my family has been having issues with Hypothyroidism and is struggling to get helpful information from any GP. If anyone has any advice, info, or links that might be helpful I’d really appreciate it, either leave me a comment or you can send me an email.
I’ve discovered a new podcast and have already binged all the episodes (why do I keep doing this? WHY) – it will shock no one that it’s about crime and murder! However, this one’s a little bit different as each story is from the UK which makes it a little more interesting to. It’s called They Walk Among Us and there are only 18 episodes at the moment but hopefully season two is on its way. Not all of the episodes involve murder, so if you just prefer listening to crime stories you might want to flick through the episode descriptions.
Like every other person with Netflix, I’ve been watching the new series of Orange Is The New Black so you probably could have guessed that it’d appear in my Friday Faves. It’s an incredible show that has such heart: it’s funny, heartbreaking, controversial, topical… but what I love most about it is that each character has a back-story that’s revealed and each one is guaranteed to make you feel totally differently about them. It’s just so well-written and the acting is wonderful. This series isn’t grabbing me as much as the previous ones – it’s not that it’s not as good, it’s just that I have been happy to only watch a few episodes at a time rather than wanting to binge it in one go like usual! Also, if you’ve seen it please get in touch so we can talk about how frightening episode 9 is…
I’ve had such terrible luck with books recently, I’ve read about 6 in a row that were just… okay. But on Wednesday I started ‘The Power’ by Naomi Alderman and I’m already dreaming of bedtime so I can carry on reading it! It’s such an interesting concept for a story: teenage girls start developing intense and dangerous powers. It’s told from the perspective of four people: three girls who show how this change is perceived in vastly different ways (religious, criminal, and political) as well as one boy who becomes the unofficial chronicler of the new world and its shifts in power, society, and gender. I’m RIVETED.
If you follow me on Instagram (and if not you can rectify that HERE), you may have noticed I’m doing a mini series with a rainbow theme. It’s been so fun to play with colours that are more of a challenge but we’re only halfway through so keep an eye out! I’ve been getting a lot of use out of the NYX Ultimate Shadow ‘Brights’ Palette, which I finally bought after lusting over it for so long. The colours are incredible, the formula and pigmentation is brilliant, and you will no doubt be seeing it feature in more of the #TalontedRainbow looks over the coming weeks! Here’s one of my favourite looks so far, using the yellow shades in the palette:
And that’s your lot! Do any of this week’s Friday Faves take your fancy? As always, I’d love to hear your recommendations for anything – books, films, make up, places to go… you name it, I want to hear it! You can also check out my previous recommendations in my Friday Faves HERE.

I haven’t watched any of the new season yet, will probably put that right this weekend!
