If you’re following me on instagram (if not… *cough* hello *cough*) you may have seen that in November I’m doing a daily picture challenge. Say hello to Talonted Lips And Tips: every day I’m matching my nails to my lips and here’s a summary of the first week.
Don’t forget to let me know which look from Talonted Lips And Tips is your favourite so far, either in the comments below or on instagram!
I was feeling the Halloween vibes in my challenge announcement post with this black lipstick/nails combo. My husband already refers to my ‘witchy nails’, so the addition of black polish was asking for some comments, but I just love how dramatic these look on my long pointy nails.
PRODUCTS USED: The Ordinary Serum Foundation* (full review on this amazing product HERE), Too Faced Ethereal Setting Powder*, Maybelline Color Sensational Loaded Bolds ‘Pitch Black’*, Essie ‘Licorice‘.
The weather has really turned in London: I’m digging out my scarves and hats, the leaves are falling, and I’m drawn to autumnal shades like this one. I think rust orange colours look so chic and make a nice change from the usual berry shades kicking around. If you’ve not tried the Kat Von D liquid lipsticks, I cannot recommend them enough.
PRODUCTS USED: IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream*, Too Faced Ethereal Setting Powder*, Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid lipstick ‘Plath’, Essie ‘Playing Koi’*.
Matte nails are incredible, but matte shimmery nails? DREAMY. My lovely friend Bex got me this Jordana liquid lipstick from the US and I can’t believe it was so cheap. It’s a little bit flakey (metallics usually are) but the pigmentation is incredible!
PRODUCTS USED: L’Oréal Paris True Match foundation, Too Faced Ethereal Setting Powder*, Jordana Cosmetics Black Pearl Metallic Liquid Lipstick ’07 Cosmic Nights’, CND Weekly Polish ‘Eternal Midnight’* with Cheeky ‘Matte Demon’ topcoat*.
This lip colour is always divisive whenever I wear it but I absolutely love it. It sums up everything I love about make up: it’s fun, pretty, and makes me smile. If you’re in a Sephora and love matte liquid lipsticks, the Sephora Cream Lip Stains are so affordable and really great – you can see them in action HERE.
PRODUCTS USED: L’Oréal Paris True Match foundation, Too Faced Ethereal Setting Powder*, Sephora Cream Lip Stain ‘Siren Song’, KIKO nail varnish ‘389 Mint Milk’ with Cheeky ‘Matt Demon’ topcoat*.
I felt like Barbie in this combo and can’t believe how close the colour match was. I always forget how good the Topshop lipsticks are, and they have some seriously amazing shades in the range. I might have to increase my collection…
PRODUCTS USED: The Ordinary Serum Foundation*, GOSH Priming and Setting Powder*, Topshop lipstick ‘Tease’, Essie ‘Chastity’*.
This was so much fun to do! I’d never really tried to do lip art before but I’ve been doing leopard print nail art for years so I thought I’d give it a go. Let me know if you’d like a nail art tutorial on this!
PRODUCTS USED: The Ordinary Serum Foundation*, GOSH Priming and Setting Powder*, Sephora Cream Lip Stain ‘Chai Latte’, NYX Liquid Suede ‘Brooklyn Thorn’*, MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer ‘Potency’*, Essie ‘All Eyes On Nudes’*, Rimmel ‘Beige Babe’, Essie ‘Licorice‘.
I love clashing colours and I think red and hot pink look so good together. This two-tone lip is a really fun and eye-catching way to use colour and I think it looks amazing. Would you wear a two-tone lipstick look?
PRODUCTS USED: L’Oréal Paris True Match foundation, GOSH Priming and Setting Powder*, Sephora Cream Lip Stain ‘Whipped Blush’, Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick ‘American Doll’, Essie ‘Status Symbol’*, Essie ‘Fishnet Stockings’.
This is probably the most fiddly thing I’ve ever done, but it actually didn’t take as long as I though it would! I’ve been wanting to use the Ciaté nail pearls in a manicure for ages but I’m so glad I thought of them for the Talonted Lips and Tips challenge. It’s not exactly a wearable make up look for a trip to the supermarket… but I love it.
PRODUCTS USED: The Ordinary Serum Foundation*, GOSH Priming and Setting Powder*, LA Splash ‘Ghoulish’, Ciaté ‘Girl With A Pearl’ nail pearls*, Essie ‘Go Go Geisha’*.
So which is your favourite look from Talonted Lips And Tips so far? I’m really enjoying this challenge and can’t wait to show you what I have planned for the rest of the month! Don’t forget to follow me on instagram to see the looks as they go up each day.

You’re SO talented Lex! I love every one of these looks, but the animal print and pearl looks are something else.
