The women in my family never spend money on beauty. Shoes? Yes. Books? Oh yes. Alchohol? Good lord yes. Put my mum within 500 feet of a breton top and she can practically smell it. So when it comes to Christmas, I like to take advantage of my chance to gift them the types of products they would never buy themselves. I have pulled together the stand out pampering and beauty treats, I hope you enjoy my Beauty Lover’s Christmas Gift Guide and that it helps to give you some inspiration (either for others or yourself… no judgement here!)
Let’s get cracking with my Beauty Lover’s Christmas gift guide!
I have spoken about the Beauty Kitchen brand before as I not only love their products but their whole ethos. They are cruelty-free, use sustainable ingredients, pre-cycled packaging (which means packaging made by other brands but never used so Beauty Kitchen buy it from them to stop it going to landfill – so clever!). They love to be open about the ingredients of their products to show that simple is often best and this is what the Beauty Kitchen Raw Inventions The Ultimate Invent Your Own Beauty Products Kit* is all about. In this (very affordable!) tin you receive the recipes, ingredients, and packaging that you need in order to make your own body wash, face mask, lip balm, shampoo or a hand treatment. What a fun idea!
When the NYX Liquid Suede Cream Vault II* arrived on my desk I had a tiny freakout. If you follow my blog or social media you will be aware of my enduring and obsessive love for matte liquid lipstick, so an entire set of 30 adorable minis is all of my dreams come true! The Liquid Suede lipsticks are some of the best on the highstreet and this is a great way to try new colours if your resolution for 2018 is to be more adventurous with make jup. If you know a lip product addict but can’t stretch to this full set, then there’s also a very cute set that contains half cream mattes and half metallic mattes: the NYX Matte Vs Metals*.
I’ve recommended the Bomb Cosmetics Little Hotties wax melts on the blog before, but I think they would make such a wonderful gift. They’re very affordable, you can choose from so many different fragrances, the smell lasts for ages and really spreads around the space, and there’s no danger of smoke marks on your paintwork (can you tell that I’ve lost a lot of rental deposits from smoke damage…?)
If you have slightly more luxurious taste or know someone who would love a bit of gold carat pampering then the Omorovicza Gold Sugar Scrub* is something really bloody special. (This is my back up pot as mine is getting near the bottom and that’s not very photogenic…!) Everything about this product makes you feel fancy: it’s a fine sugar scrub that leaves your skin feeling incredibly soft and smooth, the fragrance is heavenly, the packaging looks beautiful in your bathroom, PLUS your skin is left with a subtle gold glow that makes you feel a little bit like J.Lo (who doesn’t want that?). It is pricey but it’s a huge pot and every time you use it you would feel like a queen.
The Body Shop always have wonderful seasonal products and their Christmassy ranges are some of their best. I’m a little bit sad that the Spiced Apple range hasn’t come back this year, but I’m consoling myself by stocking up on the Vanilla Chai products which are DREAMY. There are also some great little gift sets to choose from including the Finest Facial Mask Duo which let’s you try out two of their most popular face masks (British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask and Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask) which are usually £17 each. I did a video on multi-masking using The Body Shop masks HERE if you’re interested in how these masks can work together.
And for the last items in my beauty lover’s Christmas gift guide I had to include two books from the ultimate beauty lover, Sali Hughes. There is nothing about beauty that Sali doesn’t know, but it’s her passion that makes her one of my favourite journalists. Her first book, ‘Pretty Honest’, is full of amazing and useful beauty tips, while ‘Pretty Iconic’ tells the stories of the most well-known and game-changing beauty products of all time. Sali’s stories from a lifetime of being beauty addicted are just as fascinating as the stories behind the products themselves.
I hope you have enjoyed this Beauty Lover’s Christmas gift guide, have any of these made your list? Or can you think of someone who would love one of these products? What other bits have your festive wishlist? As always, let me know in the comments below!
